Really don't understand OKC wanting Melo. Talk about a weirdly composed team.

Look at what they gave up, Kanter can't stay on the floor in the playoffs and has a terrible contract, McDermott hasn't shown enough offensively to make up for his defense deficiencies. Just getting out of the Kanter deal is a win.

We've obviously been over this already but in my view they just locked themselves into being a good team without much of a path at getting to great. But hey being good is a lot better than where Minnesota has been for almost the entirety of their franchise.

I'm curious, of their current BIG3, who of them would be most willing to take a pay cut in your eyes?

And also, who do you think they could attract from around the league that is better than AW right now and lure them MN for the same amount of money or less?

Yeah, no point in rehashing it again. For Wolves fans' sakes I hope he improves and ends up being worth every penny. I'm skeptical but who knows? He's 22 years old, so anything's possible.

Thats fair, but I'll ask the same questions to you.

I am just curious what non-wolves fans would see as both, do-able, and would take them to that "great" level? Cause I really don't know how they could do much better in today's landscape.

Exactly my thought, so he is the one (if he feels there is something in MN and worth sticking around) who would be willing to take a pay cut to keep all 3, not Wiggins or KAT. In that vein, I think it makes perfect sense to make the first up(contract-wise), of your big 3, happy by giving him what he has played for, showing KAT that they reward loyalty and ability. That is why I am as happy as I am about getting this deal done, is IMM, it is the first domino that had to drop in order to keep everything in place you have worked to compile.

I don't think any of them should be willin to take a pay cut. However, the Wolves have rolled the dice before they absolutely had to. Wiggins had another season on his rookie deal. If he knows he has to get better to earn the max deal, then why not 1) see if he does, and 2) see how the trio of KAT, Butler and him play together? For better or worse now, this is their core for the next few years. And they committed to it before they had to.

And I don't know if there's another player they could have landed with as much potential and upside as Wiggins, but there were certainly players available in free agency who are better right now and conceivably would have been better fits alongside KAT and Butler. Gordon Hayward comes to mind. And there might have been some teams with an eye toward the future who would have given up proven All Star talent to acquire Wiggins.

But like I said, we all beat this horse to death a long time ago. You Wolves fans have endured a decade of **** basketball, and I sincerely hope this all works out for you.

I mean, this isn't a short list. Wiggins right now, is an inefficient volume scorer who is one of the worst defensive players in the league. And he's now on a max extension.

I wouldn't have locked myself into this big three (and I don't think it's a big three) so quick. I would have offered Wiggins for Kyrie and made a serious play there. This was also their last chance to spend big and they did what after the Butler trade, swap Rubio for Teague, sign Gibson for way more than they needed too, brought back Shabazz. Those are super safe moves. I would have made a big play for a better 2 guard, throw a big money multiple year deal at Redick, make a play for KCP.

It's keeping everything in place for sure, but do you want to keep everything in place when it's led to 30 win seasons and early summer vacations?

Gordon Hayward would never have came here, and was never an option of serious thought on either side. That is the thing about MN that has hindered them for so long, is that we have not been able to keep/get a all-star FA since ******* Cassell and the only solid players who stay longer than 5 years are people we draft.

Can you give me some other FA options that had a legit chance to come to MN that could replace the production he gave and not just "someone would've's"? His defense isn't good, I've never denied that, but KATs was historically bad and nobody batted an eye. The thought is both will get better defensively under thibs, both have to guard the hardest positions to guard in the NBA currently (IMO) but they have to show strides this year, no doubt.

No. I'm done with the Wiggins contract talk. Good luck to the Wolves and their fans. I really do hope this works out for them.

Useful. I think people who aren't Wolves fans don't understand just how hard it is to get people to come to Minnesota williningly. That is fine if people don't think Wiggins is worth that money yet, but after watching what he has done and how he has improved over the last 2 seasons with KAT at his side, I just do not get how people think players like Gary Harris are comparable to what he has done. Yeah his defense has been bad, but he did show ability when having to guard the best player on the floor most nights last year, where that will be Jimmy's job this year. KAT had a historically bad DRating for a big man last year, but not many people talk about that because they feel like he will improve.. based on nothing. But, hey, I am not too worried about either because of how we are set up currently.

I really do like hearing what other people have to say about their thoughts on Minnesota sports, so it's too bad I can't get a discussion about it now that it is a for sure.
