If you project Tamin's stats from this year out 11 more games (Big 12 chamionship game appearance, and play at least three tournament games by making a Sweet 16) as the floor for this team, he only comes up 3 assists short of Tinsley for a two-year comparison. He could easily beat that with a deeper run in the NCAA tournament.
Don't try and compare them, they are nothing alike. To Tamin's credit, he has dealt with injury a lot, shoulder now the broken thumb. It's why he doesn't usually bring the ball up and his turnovers are way up. Tinsley was on a whole other level creating offense, Tamin is craftier at stealing the ball.
Die4Cy said this. Not me (Erik4Cy). Not sure why it's being attributed to me.

Chatfield really came through this game, great game for him. I really wish Heise and him could be consistent contributors. Heise was a black hole on offense again this game after a good performance on that side last game. Keep hoping the switch will flip with those two. Ceiling would be so much higher then. Jackson was up and down, some really good drives to the hoop early. I also am on the side of I would like to see Watson in some. You never know if he is a favorable match up in a game unless he gets some playing time. Milan looked rusty and hesitant in the first half but was back to form in the second.
Jackson has a superior low post game than Chatfield but Chatfield has much better hands and is much quicker to the ball.

Gilbert seems to be pressing bit, which leads him to over dribble and sometimes his dribbling is a bit loose causing turnovers.
I think bad passing is the root cause of around 80% of our turnovers over the last 10 games. It's weird because our guards dribble too much IMO, but that's not necessarily what's causing the turnovers. It's bad entry passes into Jefferson and Jackson and lazy passes when our guys get pressured. And sometimes our guards try to squeeze a pass through windows that are too small.

You could be attributed worse things I've said.

I really think the word on ISU is to get physical with them, especially Gilbert. Teams will continue to try to bump and restrict our ball handlers, trying to create turnovers and bad possessions. If the referees allow this and don’t call fouls, the offense looks disjointed. I would like to see ISU to combat this by doing the same to the other teams. However, I am not sure the team is built this way.
Hmm, every opponent thinks ISU is the best in the nation at trying to bump and restrict their ball handlers, trying to create turnovers and bad possessions. Cinci’s coach mentioned it in the post-game presser. That has been ISU’s identity since TJ took over 4 years ago.

Do not forget Heise's weak pass that set up the big "Poster" style dunk. However, as Curtis said during the post game presser conference when asked about turnovers, "We all have them."
Right after espn2 joined the game, Jones dribbled the ball out of bounds, then Gilbert did the same thing. Later Lipsey threw a pass into the Cyclone bench and Jefferson threw a pass into the crowd.

Everybody had a role in the excessive turnovers.

Biggest weakness this team has I think is that overall it is not a great passing team.

I thought Chat shouldn't be playing but he's totally proved me wrong the last couple games

There have been times/stretches when I feel he maybe shouldn't play as much, similar w/ Heise, then there's an upswing, and I realize the positives (even if the strengths are a "narrow set.") I think it'll continue to be that way for the most part.

What I remind myself, there have been ISU rosters over the years in which one or both would have been high-minute starters.

I just saw that! This is the same s****y Utah team that iowa beat. This kansas team has big problems. They aren't getting all the best players anymore and they are not mentally strong. F*** kansas!
I think the Big XII regular season title streak is officially over now? (or did they not win last year and I forgot?)

Dickenson is not a good fit at Kansas.
He's just soft - and it leads the team to be soft. Spending a huge chuck of NIL on Storr was a huge fail too. My biggest critique is that Self has prioritized the very wrong things in the portal - going for big shiny names rather than players that fit his scheme and style

Self is hamstrung by the KU brand. They have to spend big money on big names and hope it works out. They can't do what TJ has been doing without their fans losing their minds.

Both Dickenson an Storr are former B1G players. The B1G is soft.

Was that the best FT percentage in a game, or at home, or in conference or whatever? Seems we make some unforced turnovers lately as the season wears on. Chatfield is really turning into a contender for Big Man Sub of the Year if he keeps this up. Have we ever had a better 8 man rotation now that Heise can score a little? Dishon was not as engaged yesterday. If TJ can get all 8 on point at the same time, the skies the limit. Milan makes all the difference in that.
That FT % yesterday was ridiculous but we needed it.

Utah is an interesting team. Whenever I watch them they look kind of terrible, their best offense is seemingly having this Madsen guy chuck and he's kind of terrible, but they're 6-8 in the Big 12, that's not terrible for a first-year team "moving up" to one of the two best leagues. Maybe it just speaks to how bad the bottom ~half of the Big 12 is versus the "every game is Q1" days.

I see a lot of people mention the talent thing with Kansas. They didn’t win because of talent, they won’t because of Self building a team and a system, and the players fit into that scheme and played their role. Self basketball is cohesive and tough, on both sides of the ball. His last 2 squads are filled with players that don’t fit together at all. The overall level of “talent” isn’t all of a sudden worse (as they are still get consistently highly rated players from high school and the portal). They just are not meshing, and don’t look like the type it players that will ever mesh well. Self hates this team, and the one last year.
It almost feels like with NIL they started roster building differently. The best KU teams always had a good point guard, 1 high level 5 star on the wing, a couple of solid role players that could defend and hit open shots, and a rim protector. Now it feels like they said “just go spend the most money to fill out a team” without even caring about how the pieces fit.

This is a common narrative but let's not forget that ISU hasn't exactly dominated the B1G (outside of Cyhawk which is a rivalry) over the last decade.

Dickenson and Storr were both overrated at their previous stops. I don't know any Bucky fans that miss Storr and Dickenson had a lot of talent around him at Michigan so could open up a bit more although to me he's still a good defender.
