Iowa State just systematically broke down the UCF Knights in their home building. The difference in discipline between the two teams is significant. Johnny Dawkins looks like he just rolls the ball out for practice. I would love to see Keshon's friend Keshawn Hall in an ISU jersey because that dude can flat out ball on offense. Great win by a great Cyclone squad.

We need someone like that. To many times everyone is too passive. JJ could take over, but wants to pass even when he's 2 ft from the basket. The over passing drives me nuts.

In the first half Milan had a wide open jumper at the free throw line and passed it up and we ended up with a shot clock violation. Take the ******* shot!!

I think there's been an emphasis to not dribble so much and they're taking it to heart maybe a bit much.

Last night the 7'2 guy being around probably negated attempts by the hoop but I don't remember if he was out there when Jefferson popped it out.

Hopefully it balances out here over the next month. Some of the turnovers last night were still caused by too much dribbling/forcing it.

Apparently talented player with a big social following in HS. Criminal assault gun charges in '23 made to essentially go away. He is on 2nd school and 2nd chance.
Could help explain the overall lack of discipline that permeates UCF's team. That type of charge is usually associated with the types of characters one associates with- ala Ja Morant.

One of my latest gripes w/ espn+ is, when watching delayed, you cannot fast forward the commercials (Hulu does this also), but in my area it is just 3 minutes of statc air time.

I overcome this, sometimes, by fast forwarding, well past the break, before they break to commercial. If you aren't quick enough it's 3 min of static air.

Pretty inferior network.
Interesting. I have not noticed this. I buzz through replays on ESPN+ all the time, and never run into advertising blocks. Am I just lucky or did I mistakenly purchase an ad-free package of some kind?

Conference MBB games on ESPN+ are still run through a regular production truck.
Right but that is the only pieces that is "true" ESPN, correct? I had thought this came out elsewhere but the 'Home team' and their setup/equipment/etc. can directly impact "how good" the end product looks. And apparently UCF needs to upgrade some sh*t...

You never know with the Cyclones, but hard to see us finishing out worse than 5-2. Maybe we drop all three of the remaining "tough" games (@ Houston, vs. Arizona, @ Kansas State) or maybe we win one of those and then botch one of the "not so tough" games (vs. Cincinnati, vs. Colorado, @ Oklahoma State, vs. BYU) but I'd say 5-2 more likely.

Puts you at a 24-7 (14-6) regular season.

Somewhat disappointing but given the mid-season injury to evidently our most important player and that stupid Arizona shot, I'll take it if it means we're playing our best ball heading into post-season.

I have a friend who was a student manager on Larry's teams, he said Julius Michalik came to ISU for a camp one summer and they were asking him about what was different playing for Johnny vs. Tim Floyd, he said ~ Coach Floyd's practices were much harder, he wanted to work on defense and run all sorts of drills, Coach Orr used to just roll the ball out.

Johnny's teams were all about free flowing offense. Incredibly hard to beat at home, incredibly hard to watch on the road.

Sorry if this is been discussed, but Keshon seems like he’s laboring to run sometimes for a lot of this year. Seems like he either has a nagging injury or at least all that throwing his body around takes its toll. There are still a lot of explosive moments, but he doesn’t quite look like he did early on.

And yes, he has a lot of TOs but that’s going to happen when you play that role. He just has to be who he is, because that’s what the team needs. He opens up so much for everyone else, and he plays both ends.

KG is an absolute stud and a closer.

Are you watching a replay after the game is over, or just starting it late? The commercial thing only happens when the game is still active, you can always bypass them once the game is over.

Kinda sad they can't sell all the ad time on a Big 12 conference game on the platform, leading to the "we'll be right back" messages. Just another sign there's something not right there.

What a perfect analogy. Well done.

I’d love to compare the difference in practice between ISU and UCF. I always wonder what makes great coaches great. They’re not necessarily more intelligent, but they clearly do things other coaches don’t or won’t.

I typically will start the game live, pause (young family, crazy household, etc) and come back to it while still live, and do this off and on. Usually can pickup right where I left off, even if I ‘resume’ while the game is still live. This is especially smooth in the iPad. Sometimes on Apple TV I do have to close out and re-open the game, but usually back the the same spot in seconds.

There is that odd period after the live game before it becomes “on demand”, which is a bit annoying. But usually it’s available pretty quick and I try to use that time to catch TJ on the postgame :)

I think it's more of a 'sum of the parts' thing. It's not a team full of 5 stars but the roles are important. If other players were missing for a few games it would be really evident imo.

Like if Lipsey's gone, that takes away one primary ball handler/driver/shooter, and frees up the D to press the perimeter more including Milan.

I think the shot clock turnovers should be assessed to the last guy with the ball, instead of it being a team turnover.
Disagree. Usually there have been opportunities earlier and the guy holding the ball gets it in a bad spot.
Total team effort! Lol

After watching the game at UCF last year I really thought they would be pretty good this year. They played really hard, got after it defensively, but just had zero skill on offense. I thought with an upgrade in offensive skill they would be a dangerous team, but they aren't very good.
