No team is ever going to get a foul call after dribbling into four defenders like ISU did in OT multiple times
and 3 times at the end of regulation, one by Tamin, and we got bailed out by a turnover, and twice by Gilbert. It is almost like a prevent defense, play not to lose mode.

I didn't see it but if they were dribbling into the lane/traffic that's not what I'd call prevent.
If anything work the ball around a bit to make the opponent have to chase and play D.

I've said it in some other game thread but the unforced turnovers are going to be a big factor in ending this team's season if they don't start getting more patient.

They played 4 games in 9 days going from West Virginia to Arizona.

Probably running a little ragged right now.
and Jones was on the floor a lot in all of those games. He didn't have his legs under him tonight. Cumulative fatigue has built up and it caught up with him tonight. The good news is there are 4 days for him to rest (as long as they don't kill him in practice). We get a fresh Jones who plays his average game tonight, we win this, I think easily actually.

On another note, how do we keep Watson off of the floor when Milan comes back? We need to up our rotation to 9, which should allow us to go balls to the wall on defense and still remain fresh.

I get that Arizona got a lucky buzzard beater to send this to overtime, but this ISU squad completely quit and didn’t bother showing up for overtime. I’m starting to get worried about this team as we looked completely pedestrian against WVU and Arizona. This team isn’t a 1 seed anymore and until they stop playing down to lesser opponents they won’t be the elite team we thought they were.
I don’t think this is a very good take. Imagine how demoralizing that shot was for us fans, that team felt it worse than we did after battling their asses off for 40 minutes. CBB is a game of momentum and it’s hard to drum up momentum on the road after such a lucky shot

Quit? Lost to two probable NCAA tourney teams?

Physically, what makes those teams lesser?

Trash take. Those guys gave more effort in that 5 minutes than you've given the past decade. Keep coaching from your couch, though.

we weren’t winning that thing once it got to OT. No way.

Tough loss. Bounce back on Saturday and all will be well. This group is tough.

Trying to stay positive after that because if I don’t i get pissed.
Not sure of the stats on that, but it seems like it's really slanted toward the team that makes the crazy shot to force overtime, especially when they're at home.

Yep ISU's been on the good and bad side of both.

It's like the court gets tilted a couple of notches for the home team.

I hope that lights a fire. A couple guys decided not to show up. Jefferson was completely flat footed the entire game. Lost that one at the Free throw line and giving up all those offensive rebounds. You could tell TJ was pissed. Gave Jackson a look like I've never seen him give a player before.

I hate stuff like this so much. If Love doesn’t throw that shot in are we saying this?

Let’s take a step back and use our brains. Without Milan and with Heise’s offense not coming around we are all the sudden a very thin team. Our core 4 are playing 35 minutes a game. And this isn’t an Iowa 35 minutes. This is 35 minutes of intense defense and rebounding. Throw on top of it being on a 5 day road trip, a shorter than usual break between games and a tip at damn near 10 pm— and it still took a prayer to beat us.

Jefferson had 15 and 4 and facilitated well. CuJo was guarded really well and they had a plan for him. That’s a good team in a tough environment. It’s not a matter of “not showing up”. It’s a tough game, made tougher with all the circumstances I mentioned above.

To me the reality is with our bench not performing and Milan out, we are probably a 5-10 ranked team. No shame in that. But the “he didn’t show up” or “they gave up” nonsense is ridiculous.

Still stings this morning!

1. I don’t blame TJ or our guys for not fouling. They had to settle for a 60 ft 3 and it was such a low percentage shot it wasn’t even worth the risk fouling in the act of shooting.

2. We had that road win. Really proud of them gritting that out in regulation. The OT collapse was predictable, but that would happen for pretty much anyone. That was a lot to overcome against that team in that venue.

3. Kansas State is screwed Saturday. These guys are gonna kill them.

That was a brutal way to lose but that game in and of itself is just one game against a good opponent in a very tough environment. The thing that worries me is the pretty obvious regression of jackson and Chatfield the last several games. To get where we want to go (elite 8, final 4, national championship) we are definitely gonna need better play out of those 2 going forward. They were both basically unplayable at times last night as evidenced by us going to our small lineup alot more than usual. Those 2 were both soft with the ball, fumbled multiple passes right to them and got killed on the boards. Jackson was a little better in the 2nd half but Chatfield was absolutely awful last night.

Yeah no way we quit. We got beat because a guy that can't shoot the basketball suddenly is Steph Curry. His whole career Love has been a chucker. He was a chucker last night and was 1-10. Then hits a lucky shot. Then drills like 3 straight 3's. Just stupid luck. He could not do that exact scenario again every. Not in the next 200 games he plays could he pull that same thing off. He just happen to do it against us. We didn't quit.
