And I would bet there isn't 1 person on this board that could get more than 5 points against either one of them playing make it take it to 15. Realistically most would be good to get 1.

Not really sure how that’s relevant at all.

Ok, ill admit I took it too far last night. If you go back and look and pages 65-70 there were around 25 different negative posts about Heise in OT.

People are also wrong to go back 30 minutes after the game is over and call out people posting stuff in the heat of the moment. That's the only reason I responded to begin with.
everyone deciding to take a jab at you for ten straight pages was far more annoying than what you said in the first place

Milan is mia. Keshon is outta control. Heise can't shoot. Jackson can't rebound. Whar Watson?
Jones shouldn't have taken that shot......
Were on the verge of being #2.
Hello.
Not to mention the complaints after a game about who plays are just a little bit different than a coach having to figure out who to play based on what he thinks they will do.

After Orlando a lot of people thought Gilbert should play a little less and Jones should basically be out of the rotation.

Heise didn’t finish the game great. But at the time you need stops, he’d played really well most of the game, and rolling with him made a lot of sense.

That game reminded me of the 2000 team's road dawg mentality. I'm starting to believe.

The way they just kind of kept hanging around yesterday and tightened up enough to at least give a solid chance was impressive.

Tech was impressive on their own end with often having an answer when ISU would close the gap.

The folks criticizing Heise's defense late are absolute morons and do not understand basketball.

We were playing small ball in order to switch all screens and protect the three point line. Lipsey/Gilbert/Jones/Heise/Jefferson is our best defensive lineup by far and TJ has gone with that combination several times to close out close games (see Iowa, Marquette, Colorado).

Heise is a freaking guard and he was being asked to defend one of the best forwards in the country in Williams. He is able to do that because he is so incredibly versatile and tough on the defensive end. He gives up both height and a ton of weight to Williams. Of course that was the mismatch Tech would pursue and they were going to try to back Heise down. Other teams have good coaches and good offensive players too.
A+ analysis ^

This is an obvious point that people either ignore or don't recognize to start with.

Highlights are up on YT. Many buckets from Tech were TOUGH shots that ISU guarded very well; about all ISU's players could have done at that point was shove the guy over I guess.

Heise and Jackson weren't the only ones on the ball when Tech was scoring including OT, and they weren't the only ones giving up offensive rebounds.

I don't know if assignments on the box/clear out are getting missed or what but opponents have had kind of free reign to the ball for put backs.

This year's team has more front court size and depth. The 1999-2000 team had 4 guys who averaged 33+ minutes/game. Those guys were amazing.

Tinsley 33 MPG 11.0 PPG
Horton 35 MPG 8.7 PPG
Nurse 35 MPG 12.5 PPG
Johnson 25 MPG 9.1 PPG
Fizer 34 MPG 22.8 PPG
Shirley 18 MPG 7.7 PPG
Rancik 15 MPG 5.5 PPG

Fizer had the same kind of jump in production that year that we are seeing this year from Curtis Jones.

Are you new here?

People will bring old threads back from the dead, going back years just to get shots in at other posters so they can show how they're better fans. Outside the Cave, it's the most toxic aspect of this site.

I agree with you, any call to chill out can be adhered to in both directions. I love the game threads, the roller coaster ride with you all IS THE FUN PART OF FOLLOWING ALONG and think it's stupid to pile on someone for reacting to something that happened in the moment only with the benefit of hindsight, when we all could just laugh about it.
I decided a couple years ago that gamethreads (while in-progress) are not for me. I know I'm not alone. I watch the games, yell at the TV, question TJ, players, and refs, but not only do I see no point in posting negative comments, especially calling out players, I can't even keep up with the thread in real time!

To each their own. I don't go back through the thread. However, I do like to check in post-game, especially after a win. And I'm compelled to call out inaccuracies and exaggerations.

On to KU! Go Cyclones!

What I've observed is that it's partially poor box-outs by us, but also quite a bit of opponents deliberately crashing the boards (sending more guys than we can box out one-on-one), likely because it's been shown to be effective against us. The drawback to this strategy is you then don't have as many guys back on defense. We don't seem to push it up the floor much to take advantage of this when we get the rebound, I would guess because we think our strength is our half-court offense.

Opponents also shoot a lot of threes against us that end up with long rebounds that favor the offense.

I hope having to rally from a double-digit deficit doesn't become too frequent. The team has shown it can do it, and on the road, but that's a hill you don't want to climb too often.
That's wraps up Fred's last year
