I'll give the distance but things like the walk off vs. Texas in 2019 are better imo.

For all we know this Iowa team may not end up being very good.

Unfortunately ISU has some bad end of game FG situations so there aren't many to choose.

Kid has talent! There is a reason he is starting.

Exhibit A about not giving up on these kids to early. Some fans get down on young players way too soon. We have freshman playing against 22-23 year olds. Some need time to develop. I think of a couple of LB’s that are young. They’ll be getting better.

They are saying the quiet part out loud with their annual cupcake Big Ten schedule, when they complain about having ISU on their schedule, especially when doing it after a loss.

They could schedule any of those teams along with Iowa State right now. But they don't. We all know why. It's how they became known as the fake ID of college football in the first place.

Going off of the box score from ESPN, here are the timings of the field goal plays from the time of the snap to the clock stopping. We'll skip the end of the 1st half attempt because time expired during the play.
Each of these FG attempts came after an incomplete pass, so that should help keep the time of the play standardized and similar.

Iowa kicks a 23 yarder - 9 seconds
Iwas kicks a 21 yarder - 9 seconds
ISU kicks a 46 yarder - 10 seconds
ISU kicks a 54 yarder - 3 seconds

Calculating the minimum average speed of the ball during the 54 yarder gets me about 44 miles per hour.
54 yard kick + 7 yard snap + 3.4 yards to clear the 10 foot high cross bar in 3 seconds.
Yes, I know the ball gets higher than that. Indulge me.

Let's do the same for the 21 yarder.
21 + 7 + 3.4 yards in 9 seconds gets us to an average speed of... 7 miles per hour.

The main issue is your timings are wrong, the kicks in question actually took 5 seconds, 4 seconds, 6 seconds and 4 seconds off the clock.

No way! 54 yards on the road in a rivalry game beats a 40 yarder from the middle of the field for a game that was nice to win but didn't have much effect on the season
