Looking over the depth chart of EIU, I knew they had a lot of seniors but they are going to be gutted after this season.

Offense:
QB SR
RB Johnson is only a Jr, but I would guess if he keeps this up, will leave early.
FB SR
WR JR
WR SR
WR FR
TE SR
LT SR
LG JR
C SR
RG SR
RT JR.

Defense:
LDE SR
LDT JR
RDT SR
RDE SR
CASH SR
LOE SR
MLB SR
WLB SR
LC JR
SS JR
FS SR
RC SR
Makes you wonder if Kirk is out after this season. Brian is gone. A lot of seniors are gone. The cupcake schedule is gone. The landscape of college football has changed. They can probably still win 9-10 games this year, and he can go out crying and the Hawkeye fans can give him a proper send off.

No way! 54 yards on the road in a rivalry game beats a 40 yarder from the middle of the field for a game that was nice to win but didn't have much effect on the season

Have to disagree aside from the 54 yard thing, and have no way of knowing if this past weekend means much on the season aside from some game experience and solid growth against a decent opponent. And winning is always good, of course.

The 2019 Texas was ISU finally finishing a game after coming back in Norman a week prior and having all sorts of weirdness in other games It was the only ranked team they beat all season.

I don't think there's any chance Iowa wins 9-10 this year. I think this is not a good Iowa team that has zero offense and teams will be able to pass against them better than the past. I look for them to have one of the worst years in a long time and Kirk will be gone. Look for K-State's coach to take that job.

oh give me a break. Beating your rival matters. It's college football. This place would be a disaster zone if that kick didn't go through. Going undefeated in the non conference already has more of an effect on this season than that Texas game did on that season.

I would be just fine with this.

He's good, not great and KSU might fall down a peg with whomever comes in.

Have you looked at their schedule? Their defense will be just as stout as it's been in past years. It's the same guys, just a year older. The Big 10 never has good QB, and how many first-year coaches do they get? At least 3. I see them losing to Ohio State and Nebraska. That gets them to 9-3

This is putting the cart well ahead of the horse, but wouldn't it be something if Darien got drafted higher than TJ Tampa next year? I suppose it could happen. Darien has more speed, I think. The NFL values speed.

Let's see how the year plays out. It is just his first year starting at DB. And is this his first year at the position or was he a backup there last year? I know he started out as a WR, yes?
Taller and faster. Very possible. I'm not sure he tackles as well though.

Whatever works for you but if Iowa goes something like 7-5 and unranked I'm not sure who would look back and say it was some big deal.

People melted down over a 21-3 slow burn style win two weeks ago so of course they melt down in a close loss. They melt down over ISU winning close away conference basketball games.

They'll be back at it in two weeks if Arkansas State gives ISU fits.

That win will be remembered for a long time no matter what Iowa does. I get you're trying to ho-hum it, but you're ignoring reality.

Not sure if it’s been mentioned anywhere yet…. but I wanted to hand some props out to Jaylon Jackson’s performance on Saturday. He helped us out a ton! I think he probably deserves more carries than Hansen at this point.

I think their ceiling is 8 wins; OSU, kNU, and someone are losses

Wow, just looked at their schedule, really weak. Ohio State is the only real good team they play. Could lose to Minnesota, Washington, Wisconsin and Nebraska, but all those teams are beatable and would finish somewhere in the middle of the Big 12. Rest of the schedule is layups.

Still maintain the idea that Kirk is not going to walk away from the job with 5 years remaining on the contract too much money to walk away from and he wants to set the all time record for wins by a B10 conference coach. Already holds the most loses record and will have both.
I am not even sure if Iowa would offer to buy him out that he would leave after the year, the guy has always been arrogant, and is still loved by the donor base, so I just do not see EIU putting together a package he would be willing to accept.
This was their season to get into the playoff, they only play Ohio State that will be better than them, the rest will be equal or lesser opponents and like you said the schedule gets a lot tougher next season, when they have to play Oregon, USC, Penn State and Wisconsin and Nebraska programs that have turned the corner, throw in a game at Ames and they will struggle to get to .500 overall with the talent they have returning.

Can see them losing a couple roads games amongst Michigan State, UCLA, and Minnesota

That stretch were they have to go to UCLA one week, never been good for EIU to go West and then turn around and have Rutgers on the road the next week is not going to be easy for them. I easily could see them losing one if not both of those games. Wisconsin, Nebraska and Mich. St. are all looking more difficult than what they did at the start of the season.

And actually don’t give a flip what happens to them.
