Two pieces of news:

(1) Pepperjax on South Duff is now listed as "permanently closed" on Google.

(2) The old Fazoli's spot on North Grand will soon house Clayton Farms' new venture:

Went to Taza for the first time the other day. I think it might be my favorite restaurant in Ames now. I love Middle Eastern food.

The old Valentinos north of Walmart is a Mexican place now. That’s gotta be like the fourth different place there in the last ten years.

The salad thing could really work. Cool idea.

The new Italian restaurant by Quality Inn on 13th street is pretty dang good. Pasta Al Forno. It beens getting a lot of good reviews. Went there for lunch last week. Menu has lunch specials for $8.95. I had lasagna and you get a soup or salad and a roll. Rolls were hot and salad was huge! Guy I was with had blue cheese dressing and the chunks of blue cheese were size of half dollar. Place was full but like a lot of places, understaffed. Going again tonight!

Dunkin' Donuts adding a location, in the old Burger King space on Lincoln Way.

BACKGROUND: The property owner and Dunkin’ Donuts franchisee is proposing to partially redevelop 209 Lincoln Way as a drive-through coffee shop (see Attachment A - Location and Zoning Map). The site is the former location of a drive-through Burger King restaurant originally developed in 1976. The majority of the existing building will be reused and include an indoor seating area. The play structure on the south side of the building will be removed and replaced with a new façade and patio. The parking area, including the drive-through, will be reconstructed.

Just what we need. Ames is nothing but predicable, multiple stores and resturaunts that are exactly the same.

Ames needs a legit, non-chained steakhouse. It’s weird that a college town in the middle of Iowa has no place to get a good steak. Granted most college kids aren’t getting ribeyes I suppose.
