KFC was a special treat when I was a kid. I remember Dad getting a bucket for us to eat when he and Mom would take us to the drive-in movies in our old station wagon.
Now? It’s simply not good. They’ve ruined the mashed potatoes (they used to be so darn good, now they suck), the chicken is nothing special, and I heard they even got rid of the potato wedges.
Kwik Star chicken is considerably better.
Don’t get me started on the fall of Pizza Hut.

Was having this discussion the other day. When I was a kid, going to McDonalds was an absolute treat. Even the occasional BK post-college was good. Now I don’t think I’d eat either for free. Has my palette really matured that much, or have things gotten exponentially worse? Probably both.
KFC was elite when they were basically the only restaurant in the chicken game.
But between Chick Fil A, Popeyes, Raising Canes, Slim Chickens, and others; they've fallen so far behind.
That being said, north Ames has almost no food options, so I'll take what I can get.

I guess Pizza Hut is still a decent value; it’s not terribly expensive, and while the pizza’s nothing special, it’s adequate. I miss the lunch buffet, the Priazzo, the special feeling of the sit-down experience, it just seemed like a step above a regular quick-service chain. Now it’s just … okay.
Also, lots of us have access to way better pizza from places that aren’t mass-market chains. More expensive, though.
Pizza Hut went to hell when they got rid of the original P'zone.

Well sure their are plenty of better pizza options but for a chain I stand with the Hut
Those ovens went from making jumbo pizzas to cremating jumbo corpses.
KFC and Pizza Hut had/have common ownership IIRC. The decline may not be a coincidence.
