Old guys that hate that the blue bloods are getting out sourced in this environment. Espn/sec/b10. All these money hogging entities don't want a fair shake

I found it funny that Travis was saying Creighton fans were going to show up to support Drake and it would not be as big of an ISU crowd as some would think. I have no doubt Drake fans will be there but Creighton fans have no reason to buy tickets at the prices they are going for and I doubt they bought them in advance unless they were planning to sell them which I would at the prices they are going for right now. I bought all session passes on Saturday I could nearly double my money for right now if I wanted to sell so I would guess most sales since Sunday are probably leaning heavily towards ISU fans purchasing.

If any Creighton fans bought tickets before hand it is to resell them. Unless they live under or a rock or is a poster in the Bracketology 2024 thread ;) they already knew their team wasn’t playing there..it is purely to turn a profit. They are not going out of their way to buy tickets on Saturday to cheer for Drake (if they advance).

I realize some ISU fans are only buying sessions we'll play in but there are some real good match ups in Omaha and I plan to watch every game. May leave the 2nd game of the 1st session early for the ISU pep rally but regardless how it plays out this should be a competitive field. Can't wait to see a sea of cyclone red take over Omaha.

Our own Chris Williams said the same thing on 2GNC this morning. Not sure who he’s trying to impress.
I thought CW just said that about one game where LSU could meet Iowa in the E8 as a 1 and 3 in the same region, not the tourney as a whole.

For Hawk fans…. yes of course. Not for anyone else in the country.

Why would Hawk fans be excited for the men’s tourney when their men’s team is awful and couldn’t even make it in?

Eh, a LOT of hawk "fans" are only fans when it's convenient, A.K.A. when their teams are good. That's why you haven't heard much about their men's team all year, while hearing a **** ton about their women's team the past 3-4 years.

It ebbs and flows with their record in every sport - hell, they had 50k people who had never mentioned Iowa baseball in their lives pumped up and shouting their praise a year or 2 ago. I think that's a lot more likely and more noticable thing with t-shirt/tavern fan bases, but then I do admit I'm a little biased.

They will still have some fans who just like men's basketball more, especially the tournament. Seems to be less parity in the women's game so not as many crazy upsets.

As an Iowa State fan my team has missed the tournament several times in my lifetime but I'm still jacked for the dance every year. Yeah it's more fun when my team is in it but I'm still super engaged every year. Enjoy this years run because the well is gonna be dry next year.

Creighton season ticket holders holders own a lot of all session passes and they are clearly not selling. They are passionate hoops fans and just want to come watch good basketball in their home arena. I don't think you guys realize how many Iowa State fans and casual basketball fans gobbled up tickets the first year Des Moines hosted. We won't have the number of fans that a typical #2 playing at a close venue would normally have. Also, Creighton fans will absolutely be pulling for Drake.

My lowest engagement years are ones where we have a hot team that takes a dump in the first round. 2015 and 2019 come to mind, with '15 being the worst because we dropped out in the first damn game. '19 we were actually the very last game of the first round, so I was all in on the first round that year.

Same. That UAB game absolutely WRECKED the tournament for my that year. Haha and that was the first tip of the entire tournament too. When you are seeded 5 or worse it's pretty easy to move on but when you lose early as a high seed it hurts.

Yep, the years we go out in an unfortunate manner I can't watch. The UAB year and I couldn't watch after the Georges injury either.

Don't doubt they'll keep and use some tickets, but if they're that big of fans you'd think they'd be traveling to watch their team lol. Especially since you (think it was you) said they don't need the money from reselling - plenty of money to travel, then.

Travis said it's not going to be Hilton West it's going to be Knapp Center West because all the crieghton fans will keep their tickets and root for DeVeries because of his Bluejays days.
Creighton fans will sell tickets to the h
Hoping that those of you that go to Omaha don’t have to deal with tavern hoks infiltrating and being Drake fans for a day
Only saw 1 in KC at the game, and he was slinking around avoiding us. Just like a roach in the light.

Depending on where a team is ranked by the committee is how likely they are to play in a geographically favorable location. The committee throws the rankings into a computer that automatically generates the bracket and locations based off a numerous amount of factors like avoiding teams playing conference foes early on. That’s how Drake ends up in Omaha, not for story lines.
Come on, thus isn't entirely true. They absolutely interject storylines when appropriate. You think it's just a coincidence we have to face TJ's old team? How about Texas potentially facing Tennessee in the 2nd round?

What about lining up 2 blue bloods, Gonzaga and Kansas to play in the 2nd round. There's examples like this every year that show they'll try to create storylines to increase interest.

There absolutely will be some creighton fans, along with Iowa “Drake fans” doing the same. But overall there will be more generic basketball fans than anything just rooting for the upset. Travis Justice is just a typical Hawkeye fan blowhard at the end of the day.

And in both the MBB and WBB Tourneys that Nebraska play Texas A&M - when it was recently announced that the Nebraska AD was leaving NU to go to A&M.
