The Tang haters need to get a grip. I don't like him either, but contrary to what CW and Blum keep telling us on the pods, he actually can coach and he actually never lost the locker room. I wanted to believe that and was kind of starting to after their drubbing at KU Tuesday night, but today didn't look like a team out there that hated playing for their coach, that looked like a motivated well coached team that really wanted to beat us. The guy was conference COY and national COY last year, I think it's time to tip our caps. This cyclone talking head narrative is tired.

Nah. Tang sucks, and so do all his ballwashers. His whole act is fake as ****

You likely have to roll with Gilbert due to what he can do but he's a bit feast or famine and he's been dinged up which doesn't help.

That said Cujo stepping back with the ball when the drive simply isn't there seems to be much more effective; I'd guess if you could chart scores or at least 'good looks' when he does that it's a pretty successful clip.

Milan seems to need space to operate at his best and that doesn't happen if the defense doesn't have to peel off of him.
Agree, I've grown a bit tired of Gilbert just putting his head down and driving into traffic. It was effective early in the season and against weaker opposition, but it's stopped working whether due to him being banged up or tired as you noted

I'd have to look and see who was creating, but those fumbled passes in the first half don't lead to a lot of trust I'd imagine.

No but that's not a new thing and neither is seeming to be hell bent on driving in no matter how many defenders are waiting there.

If his act is fake, his players don't buy that yet. Most of us thought they'd fold when they were down early twice today, first 11-2, then 18-10. If they had truly quit on their coach they would have never recovered from that

Yeah, I didn’t think it mattered if you intended to do it, if you elbowed someone in the face it was always a flagrant 1.
I was sitting directly behind the replay officials. The ref comes over and says " I didn't see a thing", looks at it for 5 seconds and then laughs. You could hear him get elbowed in the face up in the stands when it happened.

ISU was so bad that it essentially made the KSU team play better because the embarrassment of losing to such a suck wad performance out weighed the KSU teams desire to give up.

In fact the KSU players were upset with ISU for forcing them into winning this game that they so badly wanted to end.

OK, then who was saying the officials lost us the game by themselves? Please provide that reference.

You made an overly generalized statement with no nuance or example. So, I figured I could too.
Just for fun - I thought some facts may be helpful.

I know that's a foreign concept on this board, but facts can be useful.

Going back through this thread, there are 396 references to officiating. 35%

We have a problem people. Please stop blaming the refs for our poor play.

And I love it when people who are clueless about how hard these guys have been working since July (and how banged up they are) say we just need to suck it up, especially when these posters have never competed at this level, themselves.

ISU's MO is to out tough and out work the other team, and they've managed to that in 90% of their games. Without any stars on our team, we damn near managed to win the toughest conference in America, all because of our unreal work ethic.

Anytime other Big 12 coaches talk about ISU, the first compliment they give is how hard our guys play.

So please stop with your lame expertise on how easy ISU's players have it.
Who are all these fans claiming to be need to suck it up? Did someone post this today? Or recently? Do we really have fans who don’t appreciate how hard this team plays? Like, it’s our “thing” - literally playing hard defense is our style, i.e. TJ’s entire program philosophy - do we really have fans that are calling out our toughness?

I certainly don’t read everything on this board (and other boards) but I honestly cannot recall seeing any fans talking smack about our effort or toughness. Much of the dialog these last several weeks is how the team has played SO hard that they must have tired legs (it would be impossible not to have tired legs with our style).

I wouldn't be too hard on Gilbert because that is his strength and that's what he and Lipsey are being coached to do.

The challenge for a D1 guard is to put as much pressure on the defense as possible without crossing the line, and it's a very fine line.

When you get in the paint, even if you throw up kind of a wild shot, you draw the defense to you and create put back opportunities for your bigs. So even if you don't score, you're creating scoring opportunities for your team.

Unfortunately, with KSU's length, they were able to do an excellent job of protecting the rim today. Their bigs outplayed our bigs today.

Are all those references specifically whining about refs? Or are some of them the holier-than-thous complaining about others complaining about the refs… would love to see that breakdown! :p

I thought this game was called relatively well. Never thought this would be a ref blame game. This is why I stay out of gameday threads. Our fans used to be called knowledgeable. Blaming refs shows the opposite.

KSU's putbacks/offensive rebounds aren't getting enough mention. They crashed the boards and ISU couldn't keep up for whatever reason.
