MM stepped on the defender's foot which caused him to slip/fall. There was no trip. Contact - Yes. Trip - No.
Should not have been called a foul, but that is how it goes. You get some, you lose some. Play on.
I disagree. Go watch the slow mo of this. Clearly was a fo on the ksu player.

Outside of Twitter, they're exactly like ISU fans. I've been to several games in Manhattan. They're Midwestern farmers.

I don't know how their online presence got to be the way it is, but my real life interactions with KSU fans are just wildly different than how they act online.
Have you been to games at Iowa State? So we are just farmers, eh? Couldn't be more wrong.

Sure looked to me like Milan pivoted and stepped on the defender's foot while the defender was in legal guarding position. If so that's a play on and definitely not a foul. But I could be remembering wrong.
There is a picture floating around one of these threads that show the K State player with his foot on top of Milan's. I couldn't see that on video, but it is pretty clear.

Of course we're not all farmers.

The vast majority of people at Iowa State games grew up and live in Iowa. They probably have a close connection to some small town even if they didn't grow up in one. The same thing applies at K State but just exchange "Iowa" for "Kansas". There is absolutely a high level of shared culture between Midwestern ag schools.

If you can't see how there are major cultural overlaps between the two, you're just being obtuse. Our fanbases might be more like each other than we are like our in-state brethren.

Have you guys seen the absolute ******** on Twitter? We have Purple Kitty fans so mad they are now baselessly accusing ISU fans of calling Jerome Tang racial slurs. Absolutely pathetic showing by them. Some of the worst sore losers I’ve ever seen.
Twiiter is a constant ********. Just a different day and different participants.

Has something been said or happened to give credibility to this theory? Are people thinking he is getting fired? Getting a better job?

I believe there was a big falling out between him and the President over the handling of that kid that got kicked out and went to Memphis. I guess Tang wanted him to stay on the team but the President wouldn't allow it.

I think the toe of the K-State players shoe is white which gives the appearance of him stepping on his foot. In any event, The K-State guy has his foot well out in front of his body, but Milan is within his cylinder. I can understand the call. If you have your foot extended out beyond your body and someone trips over it, that's a foul.

good picture. I watched the replay once and thought it was clean, but his foot did step on him (and they may have knocked knees).

I don't think he stepped on him. I think the picture is a little deceiving because of the white toe of the KSU shoe. But I still do think it's a foul. He has his foot stuck out well outside his body.

I would really like to know the truth.
  1. If racial slurs were involved, then that's trash behavior and the fans should be banned from future games. But why not just say that's what happened? At least let the overwhelming majority of Cyclone Nation shame them into better behavior or getting lost.
  2. If objects were thrown at the KSU bench, that's also trash behavior and the fans should be banned or somehow disciplined. But why not just say that's what happened?
  3. If ISU fans were being "mean," well, you might want to toughen up buttercup. That's life on the road in sports. And I know why you wouldn't say that's what happened -- you'd get laughed at.
  4. If KSU's staff thought ISU managers were trying to spy on their huddle, then that's just ridiculous. And I know why you wouldn't say this is what happened, too. You'd become the new primary laughing stock of the sports landscape, replacing Iowa football's offense.
Keeping the reason behind your outrage quiet kind of discredits you.

I have this really neat trick for determining whether or not someone is biased in a conversation. *Whispers* The conversation follows the pattern: 'I'm not biased' immediately followed by something unquestionably biased.

Feel free to try this technique out. It also works for 'I'm not racist', and 'No offense'.
Also, it’s not about the money.

This is exactly what I was thinking too. You can’t throw multiple tantrums on national television, including in the handshake line, and then act like nothing happened. The K-State players acted more mature than the head coach last night.
Guy comes off like Juwan Howard at Michigan. Not a good look.
