Is there alot of over your head stuff? My main problem with these do it at home things is that I can't fully extend over my head with the 8 ft ceilings... I was thinking of maybe trying p-90x this summer and doing it all outside...

You'll be fine with 8ft ceilings.

From everything I've read it sounds like this is a great program with great results. My problem is that I couldn't see myself doing this for the rest of my life. I see it as something similar to people that do the Farrells thing. it usually goes something like this:

Friend tells me he's going to do Farrells

I see him a couple of months later and he looks very fit

I see him about 6 months later and he's fat again

I find that I have to really like what I'm doing to stick with it. I used to play racquetball down at the Y for a couple of years and that never felt like a chore.

P90X, Farrells, etc. aren't meant to be programs that you do for the rest of your life. You do them for the time they are intended to cover to change your body and change your lifestyle.

If you finish the 90 days of P90X and go back to eating pizza and sitting on your butt, guess what will happen? Once you've gotten the results you desire through these programs, you have to do something to maintain it, it doesn't just happen magically.

So what else do you need besides resistance bands? Hand weights?

I am doing the program right now. If you can devote yourself to 1 to 1.5 hours of workouts a day you will get great results. I didn't want to fork over the cash for a personal trainer so this was the next best option. As the other have said- the yoga is no fun, but it is def. worth doing. The plyometric workout is kinda fun though.

Yes, I and the rest of the world are aware of this concept. I just see a lot of people who fall off the wagon if they don't find it enjoyable. At least for myself I have to find an activity that I enjoy to stick with it. I'm just not as disciplined as some. I have ran a marathon so i guess I'm a little disciplined.

A coworker of mine does it, and he seems to really like it. He did mention it included a lot of jumping and other activities where an 8ft ceiling may cause some problems. He also mentioned that you look like a dork doing some of the exercises so maybe doing them outside wouldn't be the best idea.

I bought it last fall, used it for a week and was soo sore. I just pulled them out again 2 days ago and am determined to complete all 90 days. It's the eating that gets me...

I would imagine that beer is out of the question on this regimen.

There's really no need to be an *******. I was just responding to this quote of yours:

"My problem is that I couldn't see myself doing this for the rest of my life"

My point was that P90X isn't a lifetime program, which you are implying it is. Sorry to get your panties in such a wad.

I just started Monday the 23rd. I've had the DVD's for a couple of weeks now and after reading some of the beachbody bolgs I did a week of watching and kind of following along. I did that so I had an idea of what to do. Even then I got sore. So now it’s my 3rd day complete and I feel sore but not as bad as that 1st days kind of doing the workouts.

My reason for doing this was to get back into shape, get off my lazy butt and improve my eating habits. I knew if I spent a bit of money and didn't have someone in my ear yelling all the time, I could do it. It also is something I can do on the road while traveling. So it fit me and how I wanted to get back into shape. Plus, it wasn't one of those workouts that’s 10min or 30min and you'll look like a ripped body builder. They may you work for what you get which is a good thing.

I used to think I knew a lot about eating and other things (many of the years my wife was preaching this to me) but man I really didn't know. The book and diet it comes with are outstanding. I haven't been hungry once. I do miss soda (and barley pop) but the recipes and volume of food are pretty good. I'm not following the phase 1 part of the diet 100% but I'm probably at 85-90%.

For those of you who can’t do a pull up…….that’s the way many of the folks start off and by the end…..they are doing 30 – 40+ throughout one of the workouts. That’s usually 3-6 sets where you set a goal and pumpem’ out. I’m guessing they are doing 5-10 per set. One guy is now upwards of 120 per workout and that’s after not being able to do 1. He also lost over 100 pounds which I’d think helps considerably. I think he’s done P90X for a few years now so with hard work and determination great things are possible.

You can go as simple as a resistance band but to optimize your workouts and achive results it's best to have a pull-up bar and dumbbells.

I may have to try this. Right now my workout is 45 min on the treadmill in the morning and 1 hr of weights at lunch.

That's similar to what I used to do but I got board on the treadmill and it was my pace with the weights. During the 6 workout days of this program my heart rate never dropped below 150. Even the day I did Yoga it was up in the 150's and I sweat more than I did in most other workouts. :twitcy:

My brother and I finished a couple of weeks ago. It definitely works. I would say 75% of it is diet. Thats the part I struggled with. I still lost about 18lbs and gained a lot of muscle.

I love it...do it outside in the driveway and you WILL be the talk of the neighborhood!

cyflier, what's next? Will you do a 2nd round? Change it up? Stay on the diet? or P90X Plus?

Once I get through the 1st 90 days of P90x I'd like to take a week or two and do something a bit different (lift, run, bike) but then hit it again and go for at least a 2nd 90 days. Once that's done maybe look at the next level of P90X Plus. I've only heard ok reviews on it. Nothing as good as the P90X program.

It doesn't matter if I'm home alone... no matter what I feel like a tool doing the workout... It doesn't help that I live in an apartment and am worried about what the guy below is thinking when he hears my fat butt jumping around.

I think you and I both (having lived in the south) have seen our fair share of people working out in their front yard...

I hope to have my privacy fence up first thing this spring so I would do it in the BACK yard...

burn a CD of a female pornstar moaning and play that when you work out. He will assume you are having a hour of sex.
