The timeout to get the ball back and be aggressive was just an awful decision. Up 17-0 on the road in weather and getting the ball after half is not the time to be aggressive.
Not a fan of the timeout. I would much rather not give Baylor's offense time to regroup before the 3rd down play. But that aspect worked out for Campbell. And save the timeout for when our offense got the ball back.

But once we got the ball back, going for a score was the right decision. But a timing route over the middle, might be a risky call. But IMO it's just hindsight. We'd be applauding the aggressiveness if we score or even don't turn it over.

KU props for beating OU today. Pains me to say it. But I'm glad OU lost. I just am.

But wow, not much fan support there in Lawrence today. I know it was wet, and cold but geez, MT seats galore there.

Said this before the turnover. Up 17-0, have all the momentum, giant rain storm, getting the ball in 2nd half. Seems like a “just run out the half” situation.

Hope those events don't change the outcome of game.
Absolutel, when i saw there was no one in the backfield and thus were definitely throwning the ball, I was like what are you doing? Very strange call in my opinion. I don’t blame the players for that decision. Hope the Cyclones can score out of half and put that mistake being them.

It's dumb trying to protect players from serious spine injuries? Maybe they should learn to tackle correctly then instead of trying to make highlight reel hit with his head down.
If you want to protect players, penalize actual dangerous, changeable behaviors. Not saying this situation is this, but a receiver catches a pass and ducks down on impact, turning a perfect tackle into forceable contact to the head and neck. The rule as it is often rewards a dangerous play by the offensive player. The rule as currently written is stupid as hell.
And as I said, this is targeting as the rule is written. No debate. Kind of like when a punt returner waves his arms he can’t advance a punt, regardless of whether that team’s **** for brains fanbase doesn’t understand it.

That targeting call is textbook targeting and I’m totally ok with the 15 yard penalty. The automatic ejection is still one of the dumbest parts of the rule though. That was a bad hit, but wasn’t dirty. I really think they should take the basketball approach with flagrant 1 vs flagrant 2 type approach. Two targeting calls and regardless you are out but if it’s not a legitimate football play, you can still be ejected on 1st offense.

I love the ejection. They don't do it for dirtiness rather to set the standard so players quit laying those kinds of hits. Knowing an ejection is looming is all the more reason to get kids to understand you can't hit a player like that, at any level of football.

Targeting and ejection is one of the best things they've I trounced in a long time.

I never said we were sharp, and yes, we left points on the field, but outside of a couple poor throws and a fumble we played well.
I guess when you say the offense looks sharp I get confused as to what that means...

tomattoo, tomato, it was a good half. Just really hope we can duplicate it and not have those opportunities cost us. 5-3 would be massive the way K-State and Kansas are looking right now.

That was a textbook launch. If that's not a launch I don't know what is.
Yeah, no. He didn't appear to leave his feet. So I really didn't see him launching himself. He lowered his shoulder on a bang-bang play.

Same old story - offense shoots self in foot. Terrible pick - why not run Norton or Sanders. Had over 2 minutes. Now that pick loses us Tampa. Cyclone nut punch as usual.

I like the aggressiveness…. we’ve always blamed CMC for not putting the foot on the gas. Noel just quit on his route and f’ed it up.

Perfect tackle? That's lazy ass tackling trying to lay someone out. Once again, learn how to correctly form tackle and its not an issue.

So my biggest issue with that targeting call is that the only option Tampa really had then was to launch himself high to avoid that contact/call, which is the exact behavior you're trying to discourage with the rule.

You can say "slow up/don't hit him" but in that play he was moving to defend the pass, not to deliver a hit to the player, and the hit was because of the hospital ball Shapen threw. Like I get the rule is targeting and ejecting but plays like that are just frustrating to watch, because it wasn't malicious.

Is the halftime taking longer than normal? It seems like it’s been halftime for 30 minutes already.

Four turnovers in the 1st half. Hopefully, this game won't be decided by 2nd half turnovers.

Iowa State up 17-6 at half and get the ball to start the second half. I’d take that every time for a big 12 road game
We should be OK. Let's see how this team and coaching staff responds.

Play to win the second half. Beat Baylor!!!

Rocco is a freshman. Cut him some slack. He is doing a good job of leading the team this year. He has been very impressive for a freshman.
Yeah and i don’t blame him for that play. I think it was a mistake to even think about throwing the ball in that situation and there was no one even in the backfield. Coaching mistake IMO
