Alcohol is legal to consume, and people are allergic to wasps...........UNREASONABLE!!!!!!!!! WOULD NEVER HAPPEN!!!!!!!!!!!! RIDICULOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I do think how you set it up is pretty unrealistic (in addition to being a bad parent).

Not big on sarcasm I see
Where is there any indication this is sarcasm? It's difficult to read tone over the internet, you didn't use "/s," you didn't use any words that hinted it was sarcasm, and your posting history doesn't suggest that it's sarcastic. In fact, your posting history suggests that you would think the opposite.

I'm with KC, I don't think this was sarcastic. I think it was you saying something dumb and now trying to walk it back.

Jesus Christ. It shouldn't be this hard to just live with the fact that getting a DUI being nearly 3X the legal limit and functionally unable to assist the officers in any way, shortly after using an extremely derogatory insult on a public show (twice) targeted at an entire religious group, is a reasonably-fireable offense for someone whose job role is to represent a public university to the tune of millions of dollars and be a role model for young men under his watch.

Nobody here has or ever will be in that situation with those expectations, but the punishment for this is pretty common sense.

Saw on the news this morning guy was going 109 and deputies used stop sticks to stop him. Dude blew .249!! This was during the day as they showed body cam footage of the deputy with the stop sticks.

If you had 5 beers throughout an afternoon you're almost guaranteed to be below the legal limit. It would take a 6'0" 200lbish man 5 beers in an hour to clear .08 and that's absolutely chugging them down.

So I looked at a thing on the “five beers” discussion, cause I thought I would be passed out and peeing all over myself, but it didn’t have a height factor, just weight and time. Does more height make it worse?

The chart I looked at seemed like if I drank three beers over two hours I would be near the .08 at 124 pounds. I haven’t drank that much since college when I weighed 10 pounds more.

So 5’9” and 125 pounds and old and don’t drink at all for about four years, I have to think five beers over 2-4 hours would put me into comatose range?

Yeah, I guess height might not matter as much as weight. I was just using a definition of about how I imagine the average male's size, given the 5 beers and driving your kid hypothetical.

According to this, I could take down 5 beers in an hour and be under the legal limit. I've drank 5 beers in an afternoon plenty. I'm not sure the last time I've had 5 in an hour, but it's been a long time.

Well, yeah, sure, but I bought gas at a convenience store that has a walk-in beer cooler. I didn't enter the cooler or buy anything from it, but you want me fired, arrested and sent to a gulag filled with bees. That seems unfair.

Did they say if he had a bee-stung child in the car with him? I hear that's a pretty common occurrence.

But you must have looked at the beer cooler or saw a sign that said 'beer cooler inside'.

Otherwise you wouldn't have known it was there.

Unacceptable.

The whole premise of the idiotic scenario was you are a parent over the legal limit. How many beers it takes doesn't really matter. That said, I hope people don't take away from this conversation they can go out and slam five beers and be ok to drive. Those tables suggest a simplicity to BAC that is simply not true. A lot of variables go into what your BAC will be after drinking. Err way on the side caution with those numbers.

I'm no lightweight and 5 an hour just to get to .8 seems like a lot. I wouldn't be close to the "ok to drive" range.

The fact that the table considers a standard drink to be a 12 oz beer that has an ABV of 4% to 5% shows that the research is generalizing a lot in those tables. That is essentially the difference between a Bud heavy and Bud Light. I can tell you from lots of experience that there is a big difference between those two beers and how I feel after drinking a couple. I have an app that estimates blood alcohol content based on the number of drinks and if I were to drink 5 beers at 4% it estimates my BAC at .092 and if I drink 5 beers at 5% it's .115. That's a big difference. It's also a big difference in the amount of time it estimates to be below .08 after I stop drinking. So yeah, be careful with those tables.
