Loved the first episode.

The stretch that was pretty much just a shot for shot remake of the prologue of the game was everything I was hoping it would be when they announced this.

They nailed the casting of these characters too

I thought the second game had a better, deeper story with more emotional oomph. Plus better gameplay. Honestly think it's better than the original and that's a high bar for me

For me nothing in 2 hit the highs of the prologue and ending of 1, but it's on par or better than everything else in 1.

The show did justice to that prologue tonight, can't wait to see the rest.

I have never played the game, although I do know of it.

I just watched the game prologue on YouTube. You ain't lying about the shot for shot sequence.

No, pretty sure season 1 is just the first games story

Yeah, there are a couple little nods to part 2 (the DVD Sarah picks up is mentioned by ellie in p2) but otherwise no need to have played P2

HBO's "The Last of Us" adaptation starts a decade earlier than its video game. Cocreator Craig Mazin told Insider it was his suggestion.

Mazin wanted the main story to take place in present day.

From a practical perspective, it may have also been easier to find junk prop cars from back then than from 10 years ago

The first episode was solid. I was only really disappointed in the fact they didn’t seem to know what they wanted Ellie to say so they just wrote in a bunch of f bombs. Considering how good Bella Ramsey was in “Catherine, called Birdy “ they could have done a lot more with her. Luckily they have more episodes to correct this.

The first game was pretty much a playable cinematic movie. I’m assuming the second one will be too. With HBO’s money behind it, this could be fantastic. Depending on the actors they bring on, I may very well get HBO to Go or whatever the online is, just to watch it.

I mentioned this in the other thread. The actress who voiced Marlene is also playing her. Ashley Johnson who voiced Ellie is playing Ellie's mom. Jeffrey Pierce who voiced Tommy is playing a character named Perry.

Makes sense. I just loved some of the Pearl Jam mentions in the games. Now some of that can’t exist

I was pleasantly surprised. We'll see if they can keep the momentum but it started off nice. Bonus points for no politics or preaching so far.
