I think I have this down to 2 things.

The targeting call and lack of calling it on the 2-3 other ones on Baylor of the exact nature. it changed the game.

the chop block call would would have resulted in Baylor punting and it was an terrible bad call.

Those two things completely changed the game IMO.
We also didn't play very well

Trying to take my cyclone hat off here. Were the refs the reason we lost?

I think no as BU dominated the third quarter. But we started really well and had multiple drives by Baylor in the first quarter extended by fuc*ed up ref calls

I mean, they have Baylor at least 14 and we lost by 7…

But
You have got to stop giving up so many yards on second and third downs, and the playcalling on offense was horrendous

I won't say that the refs handed Baylor the game because they were flat out beating us most of the second half, but it sucks that the refs denied us the chance to see a great game that we could have had if not for their garbage in the first half

If you flipped the halves so those calls ended the game rather than started it...99% of objective observers would say the refs decided the game and/or the game was fixed.

It's kind of a human psychology question if the timing and sequence actually matter that much.

I think the program is being a chump if they don't address it with some visual evidence. They can especially contrast it to the play where Baylor #5 led with helmet and his first contact was helmet to to helmet and that one didn't even get a lengthy review. The game was anybody's game at that point and would've extended and ISU drive.

Plays still have to get to review somehow. The first targeting wasn’t called on the field.
Yes, there would be an official to make that decision. This would be another person, shown the play, without any previous knowledge of the call. Not asked to over turn or confirm. Merely say what they see as the result of the play.

Liked the ‘no quit’ on a very rough day. Dekkers will learn from this for sure. Still optimistic and thinking about going to game in Lawrence, which will be a big defensive test. Tickets will, remarkably, be inflated. Daughter went to KU and you could practically walk in,in the past.

That was a tough game - refs set the tone early - hard to overcome a talented & well-coached team & the refs

Has anyone actually watched KU? I’m skeptical they’ve made some miracle turn around, but I haven’t watched a single play either.

We're going to stomp KU. They will be favored, but we will give them a dose of reality next week.

I like them feeling like they are masters of the universe for beating Duke by 7 at home.

Kansas has some nice wins. Almost every P5 team would have started 3-0 with Duke's schedule. Duke struggled with NW that looks to be one of the worst P5 teams.

Fully agree. Their best win is against Houston, and Houston lost to Texas Tech, who I also think isn't very good.

There were a couple tough calls but there isn't much argument we're better than Baylor. Their offense was a step ahead all day and they seemed to be in Dekkers head on defense. On to KU.

Did we play bad enough that ISU loses even if you start opening kickoff with a 14-0 ISU lead?

I think it's probably a coin toss if you take away the 14 point undeserved spot.

The absurdity of it really makes the game kind of meaningless to analyze other than more coaching opportunities to work on second half mistakes.

Isu isn't good enough to get screwed that hard and win....that said, 14 points with 7 minutes to go just isn't nearly enough. Still have to score a bunch of points to win in this league, and mostly we struggle with that.

And just too many mistakes....8 penalties is way too many.
