It's a hell of a country. We refuse to buy the ****** product they put out, but we end up paying for it anyway. Might as well have gotten the ****** automobile out of it.

Circuit City and Best Buy are the exact same thing, but with different colors. One is red, one is blue. Their pricing on items was identical.

Their website appears to be closed too. Maybe they are marking everything down. That has to be good news for Best Buy though. Survival of the fittest, no bailout coming for Circuit City

Maybe there should be a class action suit by taxpayers against some of the parties responsible and on the receiving end of the bailout, especially the one for automakers to recoup some of the money that the government so carelessly threw away.

you have that option every november. Make those who did this pay.

here's what their website looks like - can't even shop there.

They do that every so often normally.

They could possibly end up as just an online only retailer. The savings from not having to maintain 500 separate stores with many employees each is enormous.

Actually, we bought a lot at Circuit City. They often have the best deals, especially online. I never understood why people flock to Best Buy, it is so overpriced. Their door busters at Thanksgiving were always the best. Got my mom a $1200 tv for 700 bucks, and a really nice laptop for under $400. My wife usually ordered all her CDs through CC as well, as often they were cheaper there than anywhere.

I think it was their marketing. Best Buy just has better branding, and the stores are brighter.

Circuit City was a conundrum to me - they looked like they did not know what they wanted to be as a retailer.

GM or General Mess wants to dump a fourth of its delaerships or 1500 and closed third of its factories. It may get down to the size of Ford who is trying to get down to the size of Chrysler who is trying to survive without any Cerebreus Capital inflow. Small world.

Sounds like we are stuck on 10 million car sales for the whole year instead of the good old days of 17 million. That is a lot of lost jobs.

Google is dropping Google Video and several other applications. That is a sign.

The 30,000 jobs are probably the higher paying ones also.

Best Buy is much, much better at the marketing aspect of the game. The Circuit City stores seemed less well-lit, like you said, and disorganized and unattractive. The place looked cheap when I would visit, which doesn't fill one with a great deal of confidence in what they're buying. So we didn't.

I think that they never understood the importance of the marketing side. I've found prices at Best Buy that beat them, too. Just depeneds what you're looking for.
