My wife couldn't make it into our driveway. She had to park on the street, at an angle, with one tire up on the curb.

I am sitting in a standstill on 380just south of 20. Big accident.

I was SMACK dab in the middle of that. SCARIEST ******* DAY OF MY LIFE (sorry but this situation calls for bad language.) I watched a college age kid almost get killed in front of me.

I was heading back north to CF and everything was fine until I got north of CR. A little before the mile 57 marker on 380 two cars in front of my started to swerve near a revine, one went into the snowy median slightly after it and another minivan flipped in the center of the road.

My car started to slide in the freezing rain and there was no stopping for anyone. I pumped my brakes and did damage control and slid barely off the shoulder to the right a little way before the revine with my car turned back towards traffic as well as another blue car behind went off to the median on the left about the same spot.

So less than 10 seconds later I watch a car powerslide 60 mph or so straight down the middle in the back of a camper and just get TOTALED, hitting it on the passenger side (thank god.) Luckily it was only a driver and he had his seat belt on/airbags deployed and there was no passenger, had someone been there they would have been dead on impact. All this happened 10 yards in front of my face from a standstill outside the shoulder. I rushed over to him and thankfully he was out of the car and walking and i got him to sit down and tried to relax him. He was bleeding from the head and had a huge gash (I had one similar once that required staples) so I rushed to my car and got a t-shirt to keep pressed to his head and had him stay in my car until the ambulance and other flashy lights arrived, but he should be okay.

It was the scariest **** I had ever seen in my life and I thought I was watching something out of Final Destination 2 on the interstate. Thank god that kid was alright and thanks to the 2 gentleman who helped me push out and the 2 people who helped me push out the blue car! wow. I need to relax right now and can't.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE be safe out their people. It's not worth your life. I was incredibly lucky to have my life and not even a scratch on me, let alone a dent in my car.

Oh and I was also interviewed by a local eyewitness news, but I was so flustered at the time I didn't think to ask who it was. So If anyone sees an idiot on the news in the CF/W-loo/CR area named Erik in a I-State beanie. That's me guys and gals. I'm gonna try and calm down now.

Very, very icy here in Mudville. Instead of going to the game we tried to go the 8 blocks or so to a local bar. Several cars weren't making it up the small hill on our road and I had to have two wheels on the snow by the curb to keep it under control going down the hill.

I just talked to my wife and we have no power in SE DSM. I'm still in Centerville and will probably at least start heading towards dsm.

Seriously, not worth risking your life over. I'd strongly recommend staying in Centerville unless you took a snowmobile, which I doubt

We had no trouble getting back from lake panorama but couldn't get in our driveway once we got home. Got some ice melt and pulled right in.
