Save this for a different day
Regarding Gabe, I'll pretend it's 'next day'. Gabe needs to continue to start IMO. He does play great defense most of the time. In tonight's game his shots were not falling, at all. You could see Coach stayed with him, let him keep shooting a little too long.

But in the second half, at least the middle to latter part, you could tell Coach had told him to stop shooting, pass to someone, only shoot if really necessary. That's what they did. Team made a few extra passes. Gabe didn't look to shoot. We won.

With Gabe, I think you will be able to tell within the first 5-7 shots early, if he's on or off. Keep him in there if he's not hitting but tell him to not shoot, pass to a teammate.. He also gets more bench time. But you keep playing him.

If not hitting Gabe shoots only if they leave him very open near the end of the clock or if needed. Pressure off. Formula to win with this team.

We have 6 Quad 1 wins. 7-11 won’t just put us but we would be a #8 seed at worse. Guys 8 teams from the Big 12 are likely to get in. Most teams don’t have 6 Quad 1 games in a season let alone by the end of January.

There's honestly a chance for 9 teams to get in. The only reason there isn't a chance for all 10 teams to get in is because OSU is on a postseason ban.

K-State just needs a winning record overall. If they win on Saturday, then get to 8 league wins or 7 plus one in KC, they’ll be in. Teams at 16-14 with great resumes have gotten in multiple years before we even had the play-in round.

Yes Mizzou struggled early but they've been good lately. Can't remember but apparently they have a dude who has really helped elevate their game. I don't see how a team that just lost a one-point heartbreaker to the No. 1 team in the country would be a bad loss. Having said that, we most definitely want this win. Any thoughts why Grill shoots better on the road than in Hilton??
One close game doesn't make a team good. They also lost by 40+ to Arkansas just a few weeks ago and overall their metrics are horrible. Doesn't matter if they have played a little better lately, they would go down as a quad 3 home loss and it would look bad at the end of the year. It's not a must win, but it would negate what happened tonight and then some.

If we play like we did tonight we’ll win by 20+. If we play like we did vs. TCU it’ll be a game.

There is absolutely no chance he was told not to shoot.

If not, he is his own coach then and he coached himself well.

I disagree that there is 'absolutely no chance' he was told not to shoot. How do you know this? It's just your opinion. And that's OK.

I'd imagine it's unlikely he was singled out, but it could have been like TJ saying something like "give up the good shot to get the great shot" while making eye contact the entire time.

Do you really think TJ tells Gabe when he can and cannot shoot? I'm sorry that's insane.

I don’t think they coach a lot of offense in general.

They rely on individual talents. And Gabe is one of the few guys on the team that can get you 20 points

He took a huge charge at the end of the game, I’ll give him much credit for that. But, much like the rest of the defense the last several games, he’s been out of position, and had to scramble

sorry if already posted...didn't want to look back thru 70 pages...but I just looked at the box score. Did Jones in fact start? Was this the first time? He had been outplaying George, that's for sure. Tonight George with 10 pts, 8 rebounds, only 2 fouls. Now that is the Conditt we NEED!

He did start. Second start. He started the first game of the year. I think Kennesaw State.

If we get to 7-11 in conference that means 10 Quad 1 wins in 20 Quad 1 games played. We’re going to be one of a small number of teams that played that many or win that many. We’re probably 5 or 6 in the big 12 with that record too.

7-11 means we go 4-6 the rest of the way with games against KU, @BU, @UT, @WVU - all games that probably wouldn’t drop us in rankings much if we lost.

I just don’t see how the committee leaves out a team that is:

- likely still ranked top 25 (or very close),
- that finishes top 6 in the Big 12,
- 20 games played against Quad 1,
- 10 Quad 1 wins,
- undefeated in non-conference, and
- has demonstrated time and time again they can play with anyone on any given night

there is just no way they say we’re not one of the 68 most deserving teams in the country because we go 7-11 is hands-down the deepest conference in the country. They also know damn well there is not a single team in the country that wants to see us in their bracket.

I’m honestly thinking that 6 conference wins might actyally get us in which is something I NEVER would have thought in the past.

IMO Mizzou is the first must win game of the year. With a Mizzou loss, you almost have to get 20 wins instead of 19.

4 more wins to go as long as Mizzou is one of them

I’m the opposite, I feel like this is easily the least important game of the year based on the remaining schedule. Personally, I’m not worried about making the tourney.

Brock, Hunter and Gabe getting all the commotion tonight... I want whatever Grill was on tonight. He made some pretty wild shots. We need more of that from him.
