Regarding Gabe, I'll pretend it's 'next day'. Gabe needs to continue to start IMO. He does play great defense most of the time. In tonight's game his shots were not falling, at all. You could see Coach stayed with him, let him keep shooting a little too long.Save this for a different day
But in the second half, at least the middle to latter part, you could tell Coach had told him to stop shooting, pass to someone, only shoot if really necessary. That's what they did. Team made a few extra passes. Gabe didn't look to shoot. We won.
With Gabe, I think you will be able to tell within the first 5-7 shots early, if he's on or off. Keep him in there if he's not hitting but tell him to not shoot, pass to a teammate.. He also gets more bench time. But you keep playing him.
If not hitting Gabe shoots only if they leave him very open near the end of the clock or if needed. Pressure off. Formula to win with this team.
