Liked to finally see him go strong to the rim too.

Agree. I hope he lets tonight's scenario get him doing that more. Take it to the rim, use the glass, or pull-up jumpers. His '3' is just not there. Can't explain the 0-4 from the line whatsoever, but at least the guy never quits playing hard and believing in himself.

Gabe's mechanics are wildly different shot to shot, pay attention to the differing arc he puts on his shot and you'll see there's not a lot of consistency. Now, I do think he'll have a couple more "on" games which really raises the ceiling for this team, but I'm not convinced it's a head thing so much as a form thing.

You do have a point about the missed bunnies, though.
He is taking a lot of shots without squaring his body or setting his feet. Some .1% basketball players in the world can hit some shots like that. But Gabe clearly can't and you can tell if his shot has a chance to go in or not before the ball leaves his hands most times. He's a senior and is what he is at this point. We'll learn as fans to enjoy his good games and cover our eyes for the rest. He plays really hard on the other end so anything else he gives is kind of bonus.

Completely agree. Mizzou is talented, but really poorly coached. Would be a bad loss for our resume.

Yes Mizzou struggled early but they've been good lately. Can't remember but apparently they have a dude who has really helped elevate their game. I don't see how a team that just lost a one-point heartbreaker to the No. 1 team in the country would be a bad loss. Having said that, we most definitely want this win. Any thoughts why Grill shoots better on the road than in Hilton??

His best shots are when he’s not thinking. When he’s standing there on the three point line and gets a good look I seriously think there’s a million things about his shot running through his mind. And like @cyclonehomer said, it’s form. I think he’s overthinking his form and it’s getting to him and has messed with him.
This is exactly it IMO. He hits some crazy difficult shots when the situation, like shot clock etc. force him to take them. He also hits tougher shots when attacking than open looks at the rim. Not sure what can be done, but I'll just have to try to remind myself of this when he misses a couple good looks.

After last week I thought we might only win 2-3 more games all year…after tonight, we could seriously win 9 of our next 10 games. We won’t, but this gives the season new life. What an effort and I’m not sure how we survived this.

We can literally beat or lose to everyone left on our schedule and most of them will come down to the wire. It would be great if they'd make it easy on us but we just don't have that kind of margin for error. Shooting like we did tonight would sure help.

I want the dance, both for myself and foe the team but I also need to remind myself to enjoy the ride. It's an incredible turnaround from 12 months ago where games were happening and i didn't even know they were going on. He ain't perfect but TJ deserves a lot of credit.

GC actually had a really nice shot (see his motion on FTs tonight. I see no reason why he couldn't hit that elbow 15 footer.

Agreed. I thought it would be at least another year before this kind of competitiveness returned.

This late in his career it may just be who he is. But you never give up on a shooter. Sometimes things just click. May not even be this year. Either way, his defensive ability, effort, and leadership outweigh his shooting immensely. His last foul was absolute bull **** and I actually smiled when he was pissed of about it because his demeanor is usually so calm.

Oh, yes - this is WAY better than any of us could have imagined coming into the season. If we just win the home games against teams ranked 50 or lower in KenPom, we will be dancing…totally doable and we can certainly win a lot of other games!

I'm not sure I want him shooting them, but his form is certainly a lot better than Jones'. Neither guy is really a threat from there but I'm hopeful that moving forward we can get some posts that can hit a jumper. It would do wonders for the offense IMO.

We have 6 Quad 1 wins. 7-11 won’t just put us but we would be a #8 seed at worse. Guys 8 teams from the Big 12 are likely to get in. Most teams don’t have 6 Quad 1 games in a season let alone by the end of January.
When you start looking at the bottom of the league’s remaining schedule, it’s going to take a lot for the #8 team to make the NCAA in my opinion. Just not enough wins to be had out there. I think KU, BU, and TTU will show that they’re a step ahead of the rest over February. Guess we’ll see though. 7B01FD71-8883-493A-9C72-3D06BFB30EC3.png

He over jumps on his jumpshot. Almost like a guard. It’s weird.

They would be a bad loss because they are 8-11 overall and have losses to Kansas City, Wichita State, Liberty, and lost by a million to Kansas, Kentucky, Illinois and Arkansas, and it would be a home loss for us.

I'm guessing the Big 12 gets 8 in. Remember the ACC sucks, so there are plenty of spots to grab. Plus Okie State is out anyway.

Hunter with some amazing plays tonight. And also some big time learning to do from some turnovers in big moments. Great way to learn, when we still get the W
Brockington was amazing tonight, but so was Hunter. Sure he made a couple a mistakes but what a talented gamer. Great game.
