There are people on here who voice displeasure then complete idiots like that loser. 99.9% of us who want Prohm replaced don't stoop to that level so stop trying to equate them.

Don't be so touchy jers. FWIW, I don't think you're the kind of guy who would make a public scene like that in Hilton, but you are also on record that you made the decision to dislike Prohm before he coached his very first game. There is nothing inaccurate in what I wrote.

TJ would definitely cost less than the $1 million per win we paid Prohm for this year. All the Coaching Candidates will cost less than Prohm.
I couldn't sleep last night so I worked up a compensation plan for basketball coaches based more on performance. There are four components to the income. Coach earns a nice base salary paid monthly to smooth income flow. They earn X amount per win in non-conference, incrementing $1k for each win. They earn Y amount for each conference win, incrementing $2k for each win. They earn set amounts for each stage of post-season (Big 12 tourney, NIT or NCAA). The base pay is increased annually by 10%. The performance pay is increased annually by 5%.

2015-16
I set his base at $30,000 per month in 2015-16, so $360,000
Non-conference: 11 wins starting at $75k for 1st win, $85k for 11th win = $880,000
Big 12: 10 wins starting at $90k for 1st win, $108k for 10th win = $990,000
Big 12 tourney: 0 wins = $0
NCAA tourney: 2 wins, $100k for 1st win, $150k for 2nd win = $250,000
2015-16 TOTAL PAY: $2,480,000

2016-17
Base increases to $33,000 per month = $396,000
Non-conference: 8 wins starting at $78,750 for 1st win, $86,100 for 8th win = $659,400
Big 12: 12 wins starting at $94,500 for 1st win, $117,600 for 12th win = $1,272,600
Big 12 tourney: 3 wins, $100k + $125k + $150k = $375,000
NCAA tourney: 0 wins = $0
2016-17 TOTAL PAY: $2,703,000

2017-18
Base increases to $36,300 per month = $435,600
Non-conference: 9 wins starting at $82,688 for 1st win, $91,508 for 9th win = $783,878
Big 12: 4 wins starting at $99,225 for 1st win, $105,840 for 4th win = $410,130
Big 12 tourney: 0 wins = $0
NCAA tourney: 0 wins = $0
2017-18 TOTAL PAY: $1,629,608

2018-19
Base increases to $39,930 per month = $479,160
Non-conference: 11 wins starting at $86,822 for 1st win, $98,398 for 11th win = $1,018,710
Big 12: 9 wins starting at $104,186 for 1st win, $122,708 for 9th win = $1,021,025
Big 12 tourney: 3 wins, $100k + $125k + $150k = $375,000
NCAA tourney: 0 wins = $0
2018-19 TOTAL PAY: $2,893,895

2019-20
Base increases to $43,923 per month = $527,076
Non-conference: 7 wins starting at $91,163 for 1st win, $98,456 for 7th win = $663,666
Big 12: 4 wins starting at $109,396 for 1st win, $119,120 for 5th win = $571,288
Big 12 tourney: 0 wins = $0
NCAA tourney: 0 wins = $0
2019-20 TOTAL PAY: $1,762,030

2020-21
Base increases to $48,316 per month = $579,784
Non-conference: 2 wins starting at $95,721 for 1st win, $96,997 for 2nd win = $192,719
Big 12: 0 wins = $0
Big 12 tourney: 0 wins = $0
NCAA tourney: 0 wins = $0
2020-21 TOTAL PAY: $772,502

Total pay over 6 years: $12,241,035 ($2,040,173 average). Is rewarded in good years, not so in poor years.

Just for theory, if he came back next year and had a good year with 11-2 noncon, 12-6 in Big12, make conf championship but lose and make Sweet 16. and ends up 27-10 at end. That would net a pay of $3,916,242. Pay for performance.
(Told you I couldn't sleep, this is what runs through my mind from 1:00am until 3:00am).

SIAP but here’s a link to Utah State’s message boards where they’re linking Craig Smith to both ISU and Minnesota HC jobs

The tl:dr of it is they love Smith there, don't believe they will keep him past this season, and think he's a better fit at ISU than Minnesota. Plenty of Larry Eustachy talk on there, too. ( The thread formatting there involves lots of scrolling, beware).

Sadly it is going to cost us more than millions of $$. I doubt #37 Hunter comes if CSP is gone. He is fantastic. Would be cool to see another Tyrese

Never know. I am sure the new coach will try to keep Hunter committed. Have heard that one of the potential Coaching Candidates is a Wisconsin native that has extensive recruiting ties to that state. Maybe that would help.

That would suck but obviously getting the right coach will be more important for the program than one recruit. But i think the new coach should do everything he can to keep Hunter and Foster. Those two would be very nice building blocks for the future.

Maybe but a recruit like Hunter has developed a long relationship with the coaches and players.I am sure Halliburton was part of his decesion. They dont come for the beautiful campus.. Watch the blue bloods pounce on him.

I know you're not saying this so im not coming at you here, but if the only way to keep New Tyrese is to also keep Prohm then I think you let both go. Steve got the same arguments about this recruiting class last year ans all those guys got us exactly 2 wins. Hunter will be a one and done anyways too so not winning with him might as well be the same as having him, losing, and then firing Steve

It's hard to say how close he is with the players, and which ones. And as of now, no players have said they're not going to be around. If there's a relationship with Halliburton, losing Prohm shouldn't effect how Halliburton promotes Iowa St. Although he was a Prohm recruit, I feel like Halliburton will be loyal to the program.

There's no doubt he has a personal relationship with Prohm and the staff, but if I'm being honest, I've got to question his judgement if he was coming to Iowa St because he was in love with Prohm's system.

Everyone has an opinion. Its just been a bad year for alot of people. CSP is a good person like McDermott . It worked out ok for everyone the last time People were unhappy.

Watching Illinois vs Iowa. Is it true that ISU interviewed Underwood and hired Prohm instead?

I think Underwood is a great coach, but he is at his second coaching stop since then, and is rumored to be looking at a third next year.

i would rather deal with worry of losing a successful coach than the depression of 14 wins over 2 years
