Yeah honestly it was nice to see something live even with the adjustments and you hope it works out.

But there's gotta be some consequences for such sheer stupidity this far into the pandemic. And 'well they're just young people' just doesn't apply here. They signed a contract, for a job, like an adult, and adult behavior should be the expectation.

It has to be embarrassing at some point to know you caused the season to end because you couldn't handle getting paid to stay in a hotel room until the next day.

Or their wife/girlfriend gave it to them. MLB should have sequestered the players and coaches, similar to the NBA bubble.

That isn’t physically possible in football. A game a week is all the body can handle.

Edit - unless you mean staggering games but that would cause schedule problems.

Staggering. Probably only have like 1-2 fields available.

With 3 games a day on Saturday and Sunday, that still leaves 10 games to fit in some where.

Right, but those consequences will also affect millions of fans who have been doing a good job of being smart. I agree with much of your post but it will be the fans who will be punished too if the season is canceled, and that sucks. Plus, if baseball with no fans can’t work, then there is no hope for a football season in the near future, which also really sucks.

True but slowing the spread to be able to function enough to attend or watch these things came down to the general public's behavior.

We're in a place where we just wanted to happen without taking the steps to get there.

That's not just a Covid thing. Covid has been a reflection of all sorts of issues in our society.

If you knew you would cancel a three game series for a clubhouse attendant getting infected I’m not sure why you even started up.

My response here is neither to claim that the US has done a great job with Covid, nor is it to say that Covid is NOT serious (it is very bad). BUT, to say that Europe somehow took this virus "more serious" is quite a nebulous statement. If by "more serious" you mean "wearing masks" - that is definitely not true. Here is an article that goes country by country in Europe and their policy on masks and social distancing (notice how many did NOT mandate masks except in public transport and some businesses). https://www.politico.eu/article/europe-coronavirus-post-lockdown-rules-compared-face-mask-travel/

Note, however, that your link is to the rules in the EU countries post-lockdown. For the most part, the EU countries locked down way more drastically than just requiring masks in public long enough to get the virus under control and are only now able to allow for sports and travel without masks. Your link is evidence of the benefits we could be enjoying now had we been more restrictive a couple months ago instead of being in such a hurry to "return to normal" and ignore the experts.

Yea, I can remember something about two full weeks of declining casesin a state; prior to beginning to open with "Phase 1".....but the bars opening were part of Phase2, so we needed to quickly get through Phase 1; couldn't wait for the two week threshold to happen. :(

Most places moved from phase 0 to 4 in about 2 weeks.

HENCE the REASON I claimed that the OP's post was nebulous! What standard was he using? You at least took the time to explain what your standard was & I do appreciate that.

People just don’t understand that the ******* virus is in control, not mlb. Until people realize it (like the NBA has) things are just going to be **** in this country.

I guess I’m not following you- how does folding your hand at the first sign of trouble equate to a money grab?

Honestly, as a poker player, folding your hand at the first sign of trouble isn’t the worst move.

Not exactly sure.
So if the season augers in what is the stipulation on pay? Go home and cash in your millions?

Edit: Found this "Should a partial season take place, players will earn on a pro-rated basis." They were playing the 60 gamer at 37% of salary. So not sure what happens if they only play like 8 or 10 games.

Going off what Fred said when he was with the Pacers (I know it was awhile ago and a different league) but they got paid per game. Would assume MLB is per game also.

Of course it's the Cardinals. What a waste of space and oxygen. Both the org and their fans. ******* east coast douchers stuck in the Midwest. It's no surprise that every boy that sucks at tee ball ends up a Cardinals fan.

As a Cardinal fan who truly did suck at Tee ball, I laughed pretty hard at this.
