I’m curious what happened in these counties in the last 5 days that led to this change in plans. This is where a plan and transparency would be nice.

Three very important data and metrics happened: she co-authored a national op-ed, she visited the White House, and she's hosting a return visit from the Vice President.

As in, they must open 50%? What if it's someone who's done really well and can operate for now at 25%?

Proclamation says must keep occupancy below 50% of legal capacity.

This is pretty meaningless though because that's fire code capacity, and its rare for most retail businesses to be near that especially outside the holiday season

From DMR: "Gov. Kim Reynolds will allow dental services to resume and campgrounds, drive-in theaters, tanning facilities and other businesses to reopen statewide beginning Friday if they meet certain requirements.

Reynolds' office issued the new proclamation Wednesday afternoon, allowing additional businesses to begin operating in Iowa again after she ordered them shut down in March to slow the spread of the coronavirus.

Dentists may resume providing services if they comply with guidelines for safely reopening adopted by the Iowa Dental Board, have adequate personal protective equipment, demonstrate a plan to preserve such equipment and have a supply chain to obtain more equipment if needed.

Other businesses that can open statewide beginning at 5 a.m. Friday are:

  • Campgrounds
  • Drive-in movie theaters
  • Tanning facilities
  • Medical spas
The reopenings are on top of a previous order that allowed some retail businesses, including restaurants, to open in 77 of Iowa's 99 counties beginning on May 1."

Not exactly sure.
I secretly hope the hair places stay closed. I never realized how much money my wife spent on hair and nails. Between that and not eating out, drinking out, etc. I'm saving so much money.

Your wife’s hairdresser isn’t black market cutting or styling?

If she is, she hasn't offered. Although my wife likes her so much, she has bought like 5 years worth of hair product from her to help out.

I consider these meat processing plants the most embarrassing thing that exists in the state.

Maddow is covering Iowa again tonight. Apparently the TestUtah thing has raised a lot of questions, including a no bid contract and test results that are wildly different than other places in the state.
