Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has now issued a state-wide stay at home order for the entire state for 30 days. He had already implemented one for a couple of places in Florida, but he's now making it everywhere.

I think yesterday in his press conference he stated he was not going to make a state-wide order unless the order came from above him to do so. I have no idea if he was told to do this or he did it on his own, but it's interesting how quickly this decision came after his statement yesterday.

I read the MN SIP order. It actually encouraged people to go the the park, just make sure you don’t congregate in groups over 10 it specified.

I could be wrong, but I doubt a CF poster is working for the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation.

So I don't know when I last looked at IA on here (a few days, less than a week) but I remember them being maybe a little short on ICU beds but ok on regular and ventilators. They're short on all three now. Just barely on beds but I could swear the "need" was like 2500-2800 before. This isn't a perfect model because your schools are effectively closed but it does look worse than the last time I saw it. Did I read something about IA having 280 vents?

ETA; it's WI that has the 2500 bed need. Our numbers for "need" are lower than IA so it'll be interesting to see how this plays out because I can't see IA having more that much higher of a need especially with WI outpacing in cases (and population!) right now.

I actually emailed them and got a response back from someone by the name of Carol Hunter. Said it would be fixed today.

That's because it's not a shelter in place, it's a stay at home order, so you're right.. semantics.

Just stop lying. My BIL is one of the positives today. Never had a fever.

Lucky for him he got tested because a pregnant friend and her husband who are both showing strong symptoms were turned away from tests. Pretty ridiculous.

Yeah, the MN SIP order is very, very similar to the current status of things in Iowa. It seems like all Iowa has to gain is closing places of employment that are non-essential but still not allowing WFH.

I feel like you have to be either famous or currently banging a doctor to get tested without a fever in iowa.

We must have an uptick in something else because Iowa only has 61-62 Covid cases hospitalized and I doubt all are ICU, usually 1/4 to 1/3 are. We had 280 vents a couple days ago according to the Governors report.

They aren't doing that though. It allows for it, but reading that article about the Rochester skate park suggests that they're not really using law enforcement to curb that.

Did the hospital beds open up because of the deaths though? I'm honestly wondering.
