Iowa has high alcohol taxes and the spirits are state controlled. All liquor is sold out of the state warehouse at a case one price so there aren't any quantity deals to bring the price down for the retailer. There are ways that the suppliers can help the retailers bring down the price but I won't try to explain that.

All true above plus the Urbandale Hy Vee liqour dept is on the hook for fuel saver discounts this year which I believe is $0.25 for every $50 purchase.

Had relative pick up a over $500 worth this morning and they got like $2.50 in fuel saver. They said it wasn't too bad at 6:45 this morning, you could still get your cart through the aisles. They went on Sunday last year and they were out of about everything.

just picked up mine. Plenty of people there but they still have plenty of booze. Use a small cart for maneuvering and pay at regular checkout to save time.

Went there about 2pm today, tons of stock left, everyone must have been listening to cyclonefanatic because there was no one at one of the checkouts in the wine & spirits. Person next to me spent $1300. lol

Funny I just called HyVee today and asked. The sale is happening again this fall and it is the Oct. 19 & 20.

Yeah I had my dates mixed up. I heard it was going to be released this Saturday and I was thinking the sale also started this Saturday too but it's next. So yes, details should be released tomorrow or Saturday. One week prior to the sale.
