Every year you have those guys who you think might leave and if they do, you’re happy for them and don’t feel like you necessarily losing a future impact player. I don’t feel like we have that right now. The guys who could transfer I’d like to hang onto and the most likely guys to leave are the ones who want to go pro and obviously I’d prefer to have those guys back over an additional 2019 recruit. But yes, we are definitely going to have an open scholarship. If I got my wish though, everyone would be back except for the seniors.

It’s been a few years where ISU has lost a guy where most people felt was an impact player. They’re due for one.

Healthy programs do not often lose impact guys to other college programs. There are exceptions, like Shayok coming from Virginia, but those are on the rarer side.

The reverse (e.g., the Morgan and McDermott years) is true, as well.

Healthy programs lose players to not getting any playing time this year and not much to be had for next year. IE Lewis and Zion. NOT saying those two are going to transfer. Just saying guys like that who don't see playing time and no sight of playing time.

The only player in last few years i can remeber thinking “that’s weird he left” was Hallice Cooke but more came out later that made it sound like the decision to leave ISU was made for Hallice.

Lewis has shown at least some flashes when he has played.

Zion is still a big body with a high start rating who got behind this year because of injury.

We lose at least Nick and Marial, and might lose some of Lindell, THT, and TH to the NBA sooner rather than later. There are going to be spots there for rangy wings.

Leech is the only competition coming online for that 2-4 spot for them, too.

Disciplinary issues or quality of play...? I could see both.

What may not be an impact guy at the initial school can certainly become an impact guy at his new destination (due to roster composition). Example might be Clayton Custer.

It would be great to add a guard that can stay in front of quick opponents.

Chris Babb is heinously underrated in the "rank the transfers" threads.

Kane and White were great, but you kind of have to build teams around them. Babb drops onto any ISU team in the past 30 years and is instantly incredibly useful.

A top-notch on-ball perimeter defender who can shoot threes is worth his weight in gold.

From his CSU bio

https://csurams.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=12

"Also continued to do the job on the defensive end, drawing 55 offensive fouls (a season-high five against Fresno State, Jan. 6) along with grabbing a team-best 40 steals (career-high five against New Mexico, Feb. 28) -- a staggering total of 95 turnovers created (23.4 percent of CSU’s opponent turnovers)... "

Edit- that's FIFTY FIVE offensive fouls drawn in TWENTY SEVEN games. 2 per game. That's amazing.

I don't think we should be worried about ISU offering a guard even this late. Prohm stated before the year the staff was going to keep looking at guards with the likely hood a guard could leave (AKA Wigginton which is less certain today than seemed in Nov ) but wouldn't over sign until he knows what the roster is after the season. Now with the possibility that Wigginton, THT, and Haliburton could go pro it is only prudent to keep evaluating and extend offers to be prepared.
If all three come back I suppose it is possible one of the younger players may feel blocked and explore options but we'll cross that bridge in May no reason to speculate on names today IMO.

Way up there
Speculation on the open schollie should really only be on who' going pro, I can't imagine that Prohm would be shopping to replace a transfer in February. A lot could happen between no and the end of the season. With the way this season has gone so far(injuries, suspensions), we still may need one of the bench guys to step and produce.

Was surprised we didn’t see Lewis on Saturday. Everyone was ice cold from outside. Would have liked to see him get a try
