For Bee Gees, this song signaled a turning point in style, starting the period most people associate with the group.

Not as big a hit as "Jive Talkin' from the same album ("Main Course"), but this was the lead track, and I actually prefer it over "JT." It doesn't seem as dated, relatively.

I've seen some Kiwi artists show up here and it reminded me how people tend to group NZ and Australia. But in reality New Zealand to Australia (2587 mi.) is barely shorter than Des Moines to Caracas, Venezuela (2691 mi.).
Since that one Swedish blogger theorized that Australia doesn't exist, the distance from New Zealand to Australia should really read N/A.

These two are putting together as for the longest time I thought they were from the US. Olivia Newton-John and Rick Springfield.
So many choices for a Olivia song. Grease songs were a duet with Travolta so decided against them. I Ultimately an going with her biggest hit (as far as long time at #1) which may get grief from the public but so be it.

Not all of them...

Fake news!
Well, actually, it's true - IF you measure from the center points of each country. Coast to coast at the closest point is around half of that. :)

You are correct. I guess even a carefully worded search can result in shoddy results. I now find closest point is just over 1,000 miles so in reality just around the corner.

Or a little farther than Des Moines to Ottawa, Canada or a little shorter than Des Moines to Brownsville, TX

So this statement intrigued me a bit more than it should and I got my map nerd hat on. The 2587 miles is actually the distance from Central Australia to Central New Zealand. That would be pretty close to the distance between Alice Springs (the destination of the ABBA-inspired drag queens in Priscilla Queen of the Desert) and Wellington (home to the vampires coping with mundane, everyday 21st century existence in What We Do in the Shadows). The distance from Sidney to Aukland is closer to 1,341 miles. A similar distance would be between Des Moines and Havana (if you're looking for another country that we're traditionally at odds with) which is 1,419 miles.

Edit - Dammit. KC's a little quicker with her map nerdness than me.

Note that I chose other governments we are at odds with, Canada and Brownsville. ;)

I've been researching. That's on our bucket list. I knew Velo's distance was on the high side.

I know this would be a far more expansive list, and may have already been done. But artists from the UK. There are a lot of really solid musicians coming out of the UK currently.

I discussed this with MeanDean and Cyclones500, but thread would be obscenely large. I think if we did it we would have to make it a series and do UK artists by the decade.

Yeah, totally get it. I was thinking more of newer artists, solely because I was trying to think of all the AUS artists and kept on coming up with UK ones haha. Damn singing accents.

I'm a big fan of "international" music, although I seem to like the UK style more than others. I think a decades one would be really interesting because, obviously, everyone knows the biggest of names, but I think with the music taste of this board, it would be cool to see some people I have never heard of.

I also had some confusion on a few UK/Aus artists. Good point!

As Rulzzz said about discussions with @MeanDean and me, UK is so broad we'd have to figure out a good way to organize it, would require multi-segment series. It's helpful to know there'd be interest in it. Similar to what you said, I'm sure it'd expose me to stuff I haven't heard.
