Using only the CMC years, ISU is still only the 5th best team out of those 8. What the hell happened to raising the standard?

Lets face it, no matter what division ISU is in they arent going to be top half.
We will be this year and going forward. Look at the leap from year one to year two. I wouldn't be surprised to get 9 wins this year and with the culture in place we are going to see a lot more consistency in the program. The standard will be higher than it is out east, that's certain.

If you replaced Iowa with say a Rutgers what would the ISU schedule be ranked then? I will tell you it would not be as high. ISU is probably better than Rutgers but that seems pretty even for comparison considering recent history with both programs.

Yeah. Math is hard...

Actually if you look at the increase from year one to year two, the natural progression is a 13 win season this year. That is math and you can't argue with math.

@Thinker, this is the kind of hok mentality we were talking about.

@YeahBuddy It's year three now. You have two years of statistics to go off of. Now I get it, KF got to Iowa before Y2K was a thing, but when you have a coaching change they have to get their system in place and start building a program, especially considering the dumpster fire that was ISU FB just 2 years ago. From year 1 to year 2, there was a jump from 71 to 25. If you are still asking about raising the standard, then I don't know what to tell you. Maybe, don't be so dense?

Well we play in the best conference in the country so you have to be a little realistic. We aren't winning 13 games. But 9 is very doable.

You are using 1 year of results to make an argument, I am using about 125 years of results.

I'm addressing your half-assed attempt at trolling by saying, "what the hell happened to raising the standard." Year 1 to year 2 was an obvious change. If you don't see that as changing the expectations (or standard just to be clear) then like I said, don't be so dumb.

And no you aren't you pulled 4 years of results. No one is arguing that ISU is a better program in terms of history. Really gotta sift through the bs with this lot. Math and reading comp must not be valued out east.

If ISU hurts Iowa's schedule so bad why does Iowa have the best SOS in the Big Ten West the last 4 years?

Iowa has played 4 ranked teams in 2 of the years 2015 and 2016, 3 top 10 teams in 2017 and 1 ranked team in 2014. 2014 might have been a year ISU helped Iowa a little but not by much as they were 2-10 that year.

You are not getting what I am saying at all. ISU had a better schedule than Iowa due to the fact the Iowa was on it. Iowa was worse that ISU by a wide margin because we had to have ISU on it. Now that ISU is better the schedules should be better.

Lol you're a moron. You could replace Iowa with Rutgers every year and we would have still had a much harder schedule than you guys the last 4 years

2014- 2017 and then the 4 year average for each school:

Iowa: 60, 52, 33, 5 37.5
Illinois: 44, 44, 37, 43 42
Minny: 43, 43, 65, 59 52.5
Nebby: 61, 49, 57, 9 44
NW: 53, 33, 47, 52 46.3
Purdue: 50, 40, 61, 42 53.3
Wisky: 54, 66, 13, 47 45

Over/Under on the number of Clone fans that would have said Iowa has played, on average, the hardest schedule in the B1G West since the league went to 14 teams will be set at 0.5. I will take the under.

That does not fit the narrative around here.

I'd freely admit that your schedule got tougher when you finally had to play a big boy schedule with tOSU and Michigan. No doubt. You also had two pretty easy years there as well.

The easy schedule narrative was most prevalent a few years ago, when it was true.

Take out last year when you actually played a big boy schedule and the numbers look a bit different. Overall the B1G West SOS are pretty sad in general though. I'm curious, what does the B1G East SOS look like?

Illinois: 44, 44, 37 41.7
NW: 53, 33, 47 44.3
Wisky: 54, 66, 13 44.3
Iowa: 60, 52, 33 48.3
Minny: 43, 43, 65 50.3
Purdue: 50, 40, 61 50.3
Nebby: 61, 49, 57 55.7

So as we come full circle. ISU is all in on Campbell and not history. So we can only go off of the last 2 years of results?

Look how hard the schedule was for you this year. that is now the new normal. No more excuses for ISU from now on. ISU should be getting better than 7-5. they should win at least 8 regular season games next year.

It has to be better then that. It is not for the lack of trying. Nebraska had Oregon the last 2 years and Miami(FL) how were they supposed to know they would stink that far in advance. Iowa had Pitt, Zona, ISU, Syracuse. Not world beaters but how are they supposed to know that in advance. ISU's hardest out of conference team is iowa every year. Iowa at least tries to play a better or equal team to ISU every year.
