I'd like to think he can do whatever he pleases whether you like it or not.
And obviously he can. I would hope he doesn't let a fan forum decide where he plays. And I can have an opinion opposite of yours whether you like it or not.

As a pro, I think so. At least I hear people blabbing about how it is a problem for Zach Johnson. It seems like the long drivers are all well over six feet.

Yeah, I do too. But when I watch golf they frequently say he doesn’t drive as far as some of the others due to size.
Oh I don't disagree with you. I just don't think the University of South Dakota needs him to be Zach Johnson to put him on a scholly. But, I digress.

He absolutely can. That doesn't mean we can't discuss our thoughts on it. It's not like anyone (as far as I know) is sending them angry tweets or wishing them ill-will.
Why are people even having thoughts about it? Is the assumption that because Fred went here and coached here that all of his kids will now go here as well?

True but I think he is picking a college for his career, and maybe basketball coach is more likely than pro golfer.

McIlroy and Folwer are 5-9. His height is not ideal, but it shouldn't be that big of a hindrance if he is interested in pro golf.

It's a little frustrating that his kids have shunned Iowa State, but I can see how his son, especially, would want to be his own person, and that would be pretty tough to do at Iowa State.

I agree. I wouldn't say shunned. I'd just say that they opted out of the spotlight, because it would be pretty damn bright here for them. I guarantee as a walk on, Jack would be a fan favorite, but I can see why they would choose to go elsewhere.

Agreed. We'd like to say and think we wouldn't "treat him any different than any other player" but eventually there'd be a forum on here asking why Jack isn't playing.. .then a forum asking why he isn't as good as Fred. If my dad was a former stud player/coach at a university I'd go somewhere else too... unless I was a person that wanted the never ending attention

Height is overrated in golf. Short players actually have an advantage in their golf swing because their swing is more compact which leaves less room for error.

I sometimes wonder where our National Championship banner is and those Serbian players that helped our team win it all are now. And yes Hoiberg's kids can go anywhere they want for sure. Just like dad. Oh, go Cyclones beat Texas!

Which is kind of what I said in my first post which everyone jumped on like white on bread lol. Less of an issue in golf but still an issue.
