Well if you understand why they do it, why do you find it insulting? They aren't trying to piss us off, they are just trying to put all of these people together in 15 episodes. So I don't think it's lazy, it's more of a necessity. But I think we just watch the show a bit different it seems. Which is fine.

I understand that they're strapped for episode time, but I don't understand not coming up with an in-show explanation. That's the lazy part. That's the insulting part. It wouldn't take much.

Varys: And, praytell, how will we get an army of 50,000 Dotrhaki screamers onto the mainland without being noticed?
Tyrion: We've established contact in a remote section of the Fingers, a sympathetic local liege lord, who will provide us with a small port and clandestine passage for our armies onto the mainland, should we need it. It cost us quite a bit, but it's worth it to keep Cersei in the dark.

OR

Tyrion: The bulk of the Dotrhaki army is in Dorne, left there after we rendezvoused with the Sand Snakes. They'll make their way close to the northern Dornish border, while staying out of sight, ready to charge into the middle of the continent when they're needed.

Either of those would be less insulting than the "Suddenly they appeared out of nowhere" explanation we were given, and I came up with them in about 5 minutes. They could do much much better. They just didn't. That's lazy.

It wasn't as big of an issue early on in the series, but as they accelerate toward the conclusion, it's getting more and more pronounced. I understand why they are doing it, but it doesn't make it any less jarring, and yes sort of insulting. I mean, they're the ones that established the geography that we're dealing with. They show us the map at the start of every episode. I mean, it's a show that's all about tactics, and strategy. So when they have a massive Dotrhaki army suddenly show up way inland, to the west of King's Landing, and don't explain how they got from Dragonstone to that location without being noticed, it's noticeable. Or they have Euron Greyjoy's fleet attack Asha (Yara) and Theon one week, and the next, they've somehow sailed all the way around the continent to attack the unsullied at Casterly Rock. Like I said, it doesn't ruin the show, but it's pretty lazy writing.
It isn't lazy writing it's they are running out of episodes. The cast wants to move onto other projects. Some have been on the show for over 7 years, it's understandable they want to move on. I listened to the game of thrones podcast and the writers said that they have to speed up travel and time because of it.

The thing about this is They were the ones pushing to have the shorter seasons. So it doesn't make sense that they would be making excuses for their storytelling because of "not enough time" when they were the ones who said they thought it should be reduced.

They also stated that they wanted to film in the winter which meant they had less time to film and the double Ds worried that they didn't want to show to get dragged out by HBO.

I get that, but then coming back and claiming it's because the other actors/actresses conflicts, as the main proponent of why they are accelerating the final two seasons is not fair. They've been the ones pushing shorter seasons, and HBO allowed them to push back the season premier to film closer to winter months.

All in all I don't care about the whole sped up time ****, but it would annoy me if D&D tried to shed the blame on to other people for the predicament they're in.

Maybe they wanted people to come up with their own theories....and it worked!

I think each minute of screen time is important for them and they pick and choose what they feel is most important. I think I watch it and don't really try to find what is wrong but more just enjoy what they do show us. They've given us 7 seasons of the best TV I've ever seen so I'm gonna just enjoy the last few episodes while I can.

I'm guessing Euron will never get a chance to find out his potential new squeeze is claiming to be preggers by her bro again?

It wasn't a direct quote from the writers during the podcast but from a previous interview that podcasters had with them. They made it sound like the cast(actors, writers, cameraworkers, etc) wanted it finished up. They stated other shows like true blood suffered with long endings that felt lackluster.

I'm sure there were some of the cast that may of wanted the series to go on longer and I wasn't trying to make it sound like they were throwing the actors under the bus. D&D wanted to preserve the legacy of GoT and some of the actors were ready to move onto other projects because the show helped springboard actors to get bigger roles.

See I thought of it as maybe she already gave euron what he wanted....and now she's preggers.

I figured she would think Euron was beneath her (no pun intended) and never go there. just using him as she uses everyone.

Although the topic reminds me of another Tyrion thing I find creepy, his dream of both raping her and killing her some day. I mean, I understand the killing but the raping is just eewww.

The time travel is definitely more pronounced this season and makes the show have a different pace/feel. It makes for more stuff getting done but it also makes some things feel rushed/under explained.

I know Euron wouldn't care who Cersei is sleeping with but I am not sure he would be cool with him doing all this work only to see her knocked up by her brother. One has to think Euron will die probably at the hands of Theon, but could betray Cersei beforehand.

Nobody will kill Cersei except Jaime or Tyrion. That is, if she dies at all. You can take that to the bank. My money is on Jaime.

He wants a queen and the throne so I could see him switching to Dany after he finds out about Cersei's pregnancy.
