Cubs have now tied their high water mark this year at 4 games above .500.
That is crazy to me.
Last year, they exploded out of the gate. Second half felt like they just kind of coasted...not sure they were much more than a .500 team the 2nd half. I can look this up later to confirm, or maybe someone already has it. That's the way it felt anyway.
Hope they can keep it up and just play this year in reverse.
Don't look now fellas but just 2 games back from the Brewers with a 3 game series up next vs the Cardinals, 5 games with the lowly White Sox, then 3 @ Milwaukee. Could be in 1st soon and maybe start to build a bit of a lead by the end of the month if the hot streak continues.
If my math is right, we have outscored opponent's 44-17 since the All Star break.
They closed out last year by going 44-18 from July 26th on. Just a bit over .500.
Right before the all star break I think was the struggle. I believe Dex got hurt around there.Hmmm...maybe it was a mid season lull? In between the hot start and obviously torrid finish? I don't know. Felt for sure there was a stretch last year that somewhat resembled the first half.

Ok...at least I'm not totally crazy then![]()
The Braves were on somewhat of a roll before we played them. Split with the Nationals in DC the weekend before the break and swept the Diamondbacks after the break.it's helped that our opponents haven't been good, but it had previously been a struggle to win against even the bad teams so this is definitely a step in the right direction.

Roll out the broomsticks!Brewers and Pirates tied at 2, top of the 5th.
