In St. Louis for the game tonight. Sitting above the Right field bullpen. Curious to see how many racial slurs I here

Runners on 1st and 3rd with 1 out in a tie ball game, the runner at 3rd is Jorge Soler, and Javier Baez tries to bunt for a hit. Is that a "smart" baseball play?

2nd straight game with 0 extra base hits. If they lose one of the next two they'll have lost 4 of their last 5 series...

Can't win the World Series in May though, and they've got a 5 game lead on the division. They'll be fine.

Hope I'm wrong but starting to get the feeling this could turn into a 2-7/3-6 type 9 game road trip.

Welp 5 days ago when I posted this ^^^ I hoped I would be eating crow, but doesn't appear that way.

What the hell was fowler doing?

Fowler was pretty much boned on that play no matter what.

I'm a little surprised Maddon didn't have Rizzo bunt in that situation. Normally, I'd say no, because bunting against the shift is something the defense will gladly give up, as opposed to giving up an extra base hit. But with the lead run on third and it happens to be a guy with great wheels, that was the perfect time to safety squeeze. Especially with Rosenthal on the mound.

There is no way we get swept in St. Louis with Hammel and Arrieta left. It's much more likely the Cubs win the next two.

Hope you are right but even if we split the next 2 that still a 3-6 road trip. Not end of the world by any means but the hitting is starting to worry me a bit for the long term. Especially if we get into post-season and face real good staffs.

Every team goes through slumps at some point. The Cardinals went though a 14-game stretch last May with a 5-9 record. That wasn't really foreboding at all, considering their late slide had as much to do with injuries as anything else. The 2011 Phillies (won 102 games) went 4-7 over an 11-game stretch in May. The Royals went 2-9 at the end of May/early June last season. Hell, they went 11-17 in September. The 2014 Giants went 4-15 from June 9 through June 30.

Bottom line, it ******* happens, and people need to remember that this is the team that has gone 130-84 since the start of last season (including the playoffs). A 12-game rough patch in May is the fluke.
