Stapleton-era helmet with 'real' gold, correct?

Correct. For the record, I would actually like to see throwback uniforms used every Homecoming- including the combo you're in love with. It would be a great way to connect current fans with great teams, athletes, and coaches of the past such as:

Jack Trice
The Dirty 30
Earl Bruce
Troy Davis
The 2000 Insight Bowl

I'd like to see the throwbacks and the black & whites reserved for special occasions, however.

Kagavi did a great job creating a Trice throwback uniform. Two things:

1 - The gray throws me for a loop, imho does not go with gold.

2 - The brown helmet, is that a color to represent leather helmets?

1. I'm guessing the stripes were a fancy way of indicating the front of the jersey and were meant to be a neutral color, much like gray facemasks on helmets like Alabama, USC, NY Giants, etc.

I don’t see well enough to pick them all out. I was just happy that ours looked reasonably good, especially with the script Cyclone. I think I’d have preferred it in gold rather than white, though.
