My two cents on the state of things in Ames. Yesterday I said we stink, and I think most people agreed with that after watching the game. It was tough to take and embarrassing to say the least.
But who is to blame? Who actually stinks???

There is only one guilty party here and it is NOT the players. When I boo next week and do it loudly, it won't be directed at them.

I have a ton of respect for the players. Those guys put in a ton of work all year long and have to care about school at the same time. Sure some of them get scholarships, but for the most part, being a D1 football player is a grind. Especially on a bad team.

Those guys are trying their best, but they are outmatched right now and it shows.

ALL of the blame from me goes to the coaches. They are the ones who stink right now!

Yes, coaches are not on the field, players are, but holy crap they are bad right now.

Wally stinks.
Paul stinks.
And yes, JP stinks too for allowing this to get so bad and for extending CPR in the first place.

Sure, winning at ISU is tough, but at least be smart enough to come up with a way to be competitive. Getting massacred by Tech should not happen.
Having a 5th year QB not improving is just as much about bad coaching as it is a lack of skills.

These coaches get paid well. I would be embarrassed to cash my paycheck this week.
In fact, in the few real estate deals I have screwed up, I told the client to just keep their money. I didn't feel I earned it so I didn't want it.
Right now, the coaches aren't earning their dough. They stink.

Who else is at risk of stinking? Us, the fans. We will all STINK unless we demand better for the school that we love. This is garbage right now. Let JP and Leath know we expect better.
That starts with firing everyone and starting over.

Appreciate you taking the time to make that clarification, I think it is an important one that we need to make sure to do in qualufying our critique. Coaches get paid a lot of money that comes from us and are fair game for criticism. The players chose Iowa State and are giving it their all and aren't paid to do so. We have some really good pieces I hope we can keep in place to build on but dumb fans lashing out on players certainly won't help.

<sniff><sniff>...I'm good, guys. I did just go to an agritourism place, so it was possible that I stink, but I checked, I'm good.

I started a thread the other day about keeping the coaches, because of their recent success on the recruiting trail. I believe this team is a QB away from being a good team. I truly believe that. So much depends on the QB play, not only in college football, but the Big 12 even more.

Kansas State has found a way to keep their heads above water even without a standout at QB. They are more fundamentally sound, however. Tech had the better QB yesterday and it REALLY showed. SBR is really holding this team back (and I hate calling players out), but it is the reality of the situation. If the coaches keep him in the game I will probably fall on the side of the fence that says we need to let them go....because, it is too much of an obvious decision to make and keeps us from building on our recent success on the recruiting trail.

We need to see what we have in Lanning OR De Lira to start building for next year. This team has talent and for the coaches to not see next year as a 'turning point' would make me jump ship and become a fire Paul Rhoads groupy.

Players we have coming back (2016) that THIS STAFF SIGNED:

LB Jordan Harris
LB Willie Harvey
LB Reggan Northrup
CB Brian Peavy
RB Mike Warren
WR Jauan Wesley
WR Allen Lazard

LB Jay Jones
DT Demond Tucker
DT Bobby Leath
OT Jaypee Philbert
RB Josh Thomas
CB Jomal Wiltz
AND
WR Hakeem Butler - I'M REALLY HIGH ON
CB Stephon Brown - I'M REALLY HIGH ON

Recruiting is the most important thing coaches can do at this level....we have some momentum in this area and I know it isn't easy to see right now, but knowledgable fans know the type of players we have been able to get the last two years.

I will say it again, we are a QB away from being a solid team. It jut sucks that the QB is the most important position on the field, because that is the position we lack the most. IF Rhoads wants to save his own job...he better put in Lanning.

I'm sure the players can tell the difference. But hey you do what you gotta do to make yourself feel better. You could buy some advertisement on the jumbotron to advise others to boo the coaches also.

The more you posts and more you are on the radio the more annoying your are getting.
