Fred stopped being our coach months ago. The man isn't quite as dreamy anymore...more slimy.

Otz just seems like Chizik hiring his buddies or CPR hiring Mess all over again. Completely inappropriate choice in my opinion. The worst part is that it seems almost impossible [to me] that a first year head coach is going to be able to make the most of next season's team. If Otz is the guy, next season looks a fair bit dimmer even if he ends up being okay for the long term.

The Orlando interview thing is interesting. I guess Fred feels he has to go to the NBA next season. I wonder why. He didn't really accomplish a ton here and went out in a pretty lame way. I really believed he had big goals to accomplish here before moving on. Oh well, after the Cael Sanderson thing none of this can be surprising.

The latest news pretty much put the final nail in the coffin for me. Just leave already. At least this looks to be with Chicago and not minnesota. I don't want to have to see his mug on the local news and hear him on local sports radio. I won't have to take those shots to the heart. Now damn you Sony for not allowing users to change their play station network gamer tags. I am attached to Hoiball forever.

Get ready for the local media to show a whole lot of Otz love to win the fan base over, and in case no one noticed it started today. Unfortunately, not many will see right through it.

Edit: To dense people like dancaudio, I am not directing my comments at all at CW or CF. I actually caught part of CW's radio show and I didn't pick up on that at all from him, he seemed to be straight up about the situation. I didn't listen to the entire show, so I can only speak for the parts I heard. But other shows on the radio from what I heard were full blown Otz love.

Do you really think local media are going to conspire with JP to "sell" Otz to the fanbase? Goodness. I feel a face palm gif is in order.

I don't buy the information "Hoiberg's camp" is throwing out there. I think its a sad attempt to save some integrity for Fred. The Bulls have known Fred would be their guy for some time now.

Agree 1000%.

I don't get that line of thinking either. The local media doesn't GAF what we think of TJ or JP. Ludacrous to even think that.

Magic interview = "get me the hell out of here" or leverage against the Bulls.

He could use Minnesota or even lil ole ISU as leverage if he wanted. So, I don't buy the leverage argument in regards to the Magic. Although, that's another thing the media may try to push to help boost his rep.

People want access, and they do probably like the guy personally. Is he the best hire.....nope, and if Hornacek isn't offered them the media needs to call out JP. But...that skint happen either.

As much as I really like Fred and enjoyed the past 5 years, the way the relationship is ending has left a sour taste with me.

Not sure if there ever was going to be a smooth transition for him to go to the NBA, but this just feels like we were being cheated on all year.

Hope otz sticks around as the top asst and they can get horny. Be nice to get another person who understands Hilton Magic and has a NBA background for otz to sell.

Fred did more than I expected in 5 years, and the past few months don't undo it all - but he he lost some fan points with a lot of people the past couple months.

Interesting to me that the Bulls leak "gentleman's agreement", then the Hoiberg camp says no, and the new Bulls leak is "confident he'll accept". Same leaker? The Bulls have firmly established themselves as classless, so I don't trust anything coming from that side.

Four things that are really bothering me:

1. Fred must have been planning to leave for weeks (maybe months) now and for anything in the NBA (Orlando, Chicago, Minnesota).

2. His desire to leave must have been strong enough that he even made it clear to Jamie that this was his last year (TJ hire).

3. Fred's accomplishments don't seem to be yielding all that much in terms of his replacement. We've been thinking that a top ten team next year would help attract a top tier coach. It's even been emphasized in the media that the job looks more attractive because Fred rebuilt the program bigger and better. Is that just BS or is Jamie failing to take advantage? Assuming that TJ is the next coach. And this is not criticism of TJ; it's just that it is a typical ISU hire. If the job is that much better because of what Fred has done, shouldn't we be looking at stealing a big name? (Think stealing Johnny Orr away from Michigan)

4. Diallo's comments are also very troubling. Again, Fred must have decided to leave weeks ago and we lost out on one of the biggest recruiting opportunities we've ever had. I'm not saying Fred should have lied. It's just another shot to the groin.

Everything adds up to a much different image of Fred. As others have said, he's lost his title. He's no longer "The Mayor".

You can throw Fred into the "classless" group as well. there are som many things that makes sense now that didn't before and it appears to me that Fred is a puppetmaster. He has been at this for awhile and it pisses me off. what makes it worse is his history in ames/isu- i don't like how he used that relationship locally and nationally- and now does is ready to bolt in this fashion.

As far as my Hornacek intel goes, read into it as you wish but I've been pretty up front about this side of things all week. On Monday, what I consider to be a pretty solid source told me that Jeff Hornacek would very much be in play. Since then, multiple sources have told me that Jeff is not interested. Then Friday night, these quotes surfaced:

"It would be an honor, and it'd be fun, to coach your alma mater, but (Suns general manager) Ryan (McDonough) and I came here with a purpose and the purpose is to get the Phoenix Suns back on track," Hornacek told AZCentral.com on Friday at US Airways Center, where the Suns are holding pre-draft workouts. "We had a good start the first year and some bumps last year but we're committed to being here and get this thing going."

Doesn't see like a guy looking to make a move to me but as I said MULTIPLE times in my radio show Friday, would be a hell of a home run hire if somehow Jamie could pull it off.

Wait a minute...So the same media that many around here claim to be anti-ISU all of the time is now conspiring in a pro-ISU movement to mysteriously sell a potential hire for a job that isn't even open yet?

The guy their "selling" isn't exactly Coach K!

I missed Diallo's comments. Would you mind summarizing, or pointing to the thread? Thanks.
