It's not a given that Horn would bolt for the nba, and also not a given that we'd hire Otz after Horn leaves. I trust an nba coach with our current roster over handing the reins of a top 10 team to a question mark.

With this team, I would be more worried about the chemistry and continuity. Otzenberger was charged with scouting opponents and preparing and implementing gametime strategy against our opponents when he was an assistant. IMO, that sounds like an awful lot of responsibility. And a lot of coaching.

Tell me about all the NBA coaches with NO college coaching experience who have been successful after leaving the NBA for a college team.

Bottom line, what you are proposing is much more risky than what I am proposing. That is a fact. If you think you're going to convince me that an nba coach and isu alum, is a more risky option than a coach that was taking interviews at Green Bay less than 1 year ago, you're nuts.

Wait, which 2016 recruit stated ISU would be off his list if Hoiberg left? Hope it's not Coffey.

Thought the Sports Fanatics had a good show today and wanted to comment on their discussion with Reid regarding potential replacements. I heard Forgrave say that TJ was from the school of Hoiberg. Yes.....but he is also from the school of McDermott. I heard it mentioned that TJ will run the same style as Fred. I would tend to agree....but....do we know that? He is just as much a McDermott guy as he is a Hoiberg guy. And I don't think they were exactly playing Hoiball at Washington. So my point is just that, do we know for sure TJ won't emulate McDermott in any way? Because if he does.......no thank you.
Again, I don't think he will. But I keep hearing it stated that he will definitely install a Hoiball type system.
I'll hang up and listen.

Otz had interviews scheduled for THIS Spring......but cancelled them when he too the Iowa State job. This article also says why he went to Washington.

ISU is getting an experienced assistant who knows the landscape well after spending seven years as a Cyclone assistant, the last three as Hoiberg’s associate head coach.“For us, it’s a great hire,” Hoiberg said, “bringing him back, somebody that’s familiar, somebody that understands how we do things.”Otzelberger is credited with bringing in high-impact players such as Melvin Ejim, Craig Brackins, Diante Garrett and Scott Christopherson, among others, during his first stint with the Cyclones from 2006-13.“He recruits all over the map,” Hoiberg said, “not only local kids, but he’s done very good in Canada and has helped get some really top-level players to Iowa State.”When Otzelberger left following ISU’s second-straight trip to the NCAA tournament in 2013, he cited the belief he needed to experience life with another program after a career solely spent with ISU to further his goal of becoming a head coach.“I felt that in order to broaden my horizons and to expand and grow professionally,” he said, “that I needed to work somewhere else, see another opportunity and the Washington opportunity was one I perceived as a strong one.”It was reported that Otzelberger had head coaching interviews scheduled with Wisconsin-Green Bay and Northern Kentucky this spring.“I’ve removed my name from consideration from some other opportunities,” he said, “and feel like we’re fired up to be at Iowa State and locked into it and feel like this opportunity is better than those and fits us more.”Otzelberger still has designs on running his own program one day, but is taking the patient approach.“Although I aspire to be the head coach at some point,” he said, “I’m not at a point where it has to be tomorrow, and I feel like this is where I want to be.”- See more at: http://amestrib.com/sports/men-s-ba...-top-priority-once-again#sthash.PphudVaW.dpuf

Better luck next time Dandy and 78. I've got that quick trigger finger....and no life, which allows me to constantly refresh CF.

So Green Bay or Northern Kentucky were the interviews he might have not gotten hired for. Got it. I almost forgot about Northern Kentucky. Thanks for the reminder.
