NDSU will never be offered a spot in the Big 12 regardless of if they made the move to be an FBS school. Oil money is not related to tv revenue. There is no way the Big 12 would offer NDSU versus a BYU, Louisville or Cincy.

Lakes - Are you sure you want to step up to FBS? You might want to understand the NCAA requirements 1st.

Attendance - Average 15000 over all home games in the last rolling 2 years. In order for a ticket to be counted in the attendance, it must be sold for no less than 1/3 of the highest priced ticket. This includes student tickets. If your highest priced game ticket is $30, you better hope the students are paying at least $10 and other tickets are not being discounted.

NDSU may have 22 less scholarships, but don't have 22 less players as they can use partials to get to 85 total players on scholarship. Not only do you get 22 more scholarships, you really get 44 more scholarships(+22 for women's)......next problem....

You currently meet the requirement of 16 D1 sports programs.....unfortunately there is 8 for men and 8 for women. Get ready to drop some men's sports and start adding women's. ISU has 6 men's and 10 women's sports to meet the requirements.

You really want to join the Mountain West? Are you trying to finish off your Athletic Department and make them go bankrupt? Get ready to fly those 10 women's sports teams to the middle of nowhere in the west. That will really make a lot of money for the University.

While I'm a diehard ISU fan, I am concerned the Power 5 sealed the fate of the future of college football. There just isn't enough money for the other FBS conferences to compete, but they still have to live within the FBS requirements. If NDSU joins the little boys in the FBS, I hope you aren't disappointed when you are just a mediocre team in a mediocre conference and the Athletic Department doesn't have the money to build the infrastructure needed.

Shut up with this oil money. Fargo has a median household income below $50,000, which is below the national average. Fargo is by no means a wealthy city. You just don't get it, or at least won't answer the questions.

1. Do you have 85 scholarship players?

2. What does the most expensive ticket cost per game? Least expensive?

3. Do you think kids from the twin cities will suddenly start going to NDSU over upper midwest power 5 schools?

4. You have not shown that you can compete against the big12, you have shown that you can focus your entire off season on one game and win that game?

NDSU has shown that a 3 time FCS Champ can play bottom feeders in FBS and pull out some close wins. Put them in the meat grinder of the Big XII and they will not fare as well as TCU or WVU.

For all the talk about NDSU's 4 wins in the last 4 years against FBS teams, let's remember that those teams were Colorado State, Kansas, Minnesota, and K-State (a really nice win in the Opener).

It will be a good game. But I still predict an ISU win. Bibbs, Montgomery, and Bundrage prove to be too much. Too much size and too much ability for them to contain them.

Beat Minnesota, KU, and I would love to say KSU. KNG, don't mistake what I'm trying to say. We don't know what NDSU would do with our schedule. Would they win 1-3 games? Who knows? It doesn't matter. But when given the chance, they have won. That's all I'm saying.

I just looked up the difference in school revenue. NDSU $18.8 million and ISU $62.3 million. I didn't realize it was even that wide of disparity. (UT is $165.6...)

The toughest game NDSU has EVER won was against K-State and it's not like they dominated KSU and outclassed them. KSU played like crap in their first game with a new QB. Lots of good teams have lost games like that.

NDSU would have to play and beat multiple FBS teams a year to achieve what we have. Just last year we beat Tulsa, Kansas, and WVU. That was in a bad year for us. Those would be three PROGRAM DEFINING wins for NDSU according to Lakes.

I think we're saying the same thing, just in different ways. I meant to give NDSU respect for winning the games on their schedule. And that, like Marshall, and other teams CAN move up to FBS. There is no chance in hell they would be able to survive in a Power 5 conference just because they can beat the bottom-feeders. And as we know, winning three games in our conference won't build the base that they obviously would need.

How would you afford those new 44 scholarships Lakes? Your budget is 18.8 million and expenses of 18.7 million today.

I'm very doubtful that you would win 3-4 games year in and year out with your facilities. A good year, sure, but not year in and year out. If you moved up you would be trying to recruit FBS guys against the other FBS guys. Not as easy. Right now you get the best of the rest because they want to win. You would end up getting the same talent as you get today, if you were lucky. You wouldn't get the good school transfers anymore to save their year of eligibility.

I know you will say oil money will get the job done. No, it won't. But carry on thinking that because you guys are top dog in the small lake competing with the "big" boys every year, that you could win year in and year out in the Big XII. It's not surprising people are so tired of this drivel.
