Lakes - Are you sure you want to step up to FBS? You might want to understand the NCAA requirements 1st.

Attendance - Average 15000 over all home games in the last rolling 2 years. In order for a ticket to be counted in the attendance, it must be sold for no less than 1/3 of the highest priced ticket. This includes student tickets. If your highest priced game ticket is $30, you better hope the students are paying at least $10 and other tickets are not being discounted.

NDSU may have 22 less scholarships, but don't have 22 less players as they can use partials to get to 85 total players on scholarship. Not only do you get 22 more scholarships, you really get 44 more scholarships(+22 for women's)......next problem....

You currently meet the requirement of 16 D1 sports programs.....unfortunately there is 8 for men and 8 for women. Get ready to drop some men's sports and start adding women's. ISU has 6 men's and 10 women's sports to meet the requirements.

You really want to join the Mountain West? Are you trying to finish off your Athletic Department and make them go bankrupt? Get ready to fly those 10 women's sports teams to the middle of nowhere in the west. That will really make a lot of money for the University.

While I'm a diehard ISU fan, I am concerned the Power 5 sealed the fate of the future of college football. There just isn't enough money for the other FBS conferences to compete, but they still have to live within the FBS requirements. If NDSU joins the little boys in the FBS, I hope you aren't disappointed when you are just a mediocre team in a mediocre conference and the Athletic Department doesn't have the money to build the infrastructure needed.

I'll respond for him: "During practice today, our 7'6", 340lbs QB hit wide receivers today while practicing without the defense and they caught ALL passes! 3-time pee-wee league champs... blah, blah, blah... K-State... blah, blah, blah... Minnesota... blah, blah, blah... 20k sellouts... blah, blah, blah...moving to D1... blah, blah, blah...chip on their shoulder... blah, blah, blah... preseason #1...blah, blah, blah....favored by 2...inside sources..."

Rinse and repeat x 1000 times.

Contrary to lakes beliefs, NDSU is where they should be. They are not a FBS team. The market doesnt exist, the talent is not "up to snuff" and the Fargodome is too small. These are the facts.

It kind of sucks knowing that NDSU CANNOT succeed in FBS currently, but its a reality.
North Dakota is a conundrum.
Big fish - small bowl or small fish - big bowl.

We simply cant do FBS currently even if invited.

FACTS.

Lakes, take notes. If you were realistic like this Bison fan is, you wouldn't be on so many ISU fans' ignore list.

And what really stinks is that you guys have proven you are more than capable to compete as well as ISU and the other bottom-feeders of the FBS. This new Power 5 ruling is going to kill all that is good in college football I'm afraid. Although I will be ecstatic to not have to lose to FCS teams anymore. And the big boys will have to play as tough of a schedule as we do today.

Sad that I've been waiting for 2000+ posts to have a real discussion with a NDSU fan. Bravo!

NDSU has shown that a 3 time FCS Champ can play bottom feeders in FBS and pull out some close wins. Put them in the meat grinder of the Big XII and they will not fare as well as TCU or WVU.

For all the talk about NDSU's 4 wins in the last 4 years against FBS teams, let's remember that those teams were Colorado State, Kansas, Minnesota, and K-State (a really nice win in the Opener).

It will be a good game. But I still predict an ISU win. Bibbs, Montgomery, and Bundrage prove to be too much. Too much size and too much ability for them to contain them.

NDSU would be just fine, especially with 22 more scholarships!
Mr ndsu fan up top likes to trophy chase, be the big fish in small pond. I would hope my university can strive for more!!

As for the game, I'll say it again. when NDSU'S defense slows down isu offense, that's how NDSU will win 21-17

No offense to the Fargodome but there is just something about astroturf that looks weird. Do you guys have a live bison like Colorado?

How the eff would you be just fine? There is no way in hell you could come close to matching the revenue of even the lower end FBS schools. YOUR STADIUM HOLDS 19,000 PEOPLE! You are in one of the worst possible states for recruiting in-state talent. No conference would take you one, especially with the new NCAA changes. Who cares if you can beat a few FBS teams. In order to BE in and FBS conference you have to have some sort of value as a program. Titles or not.

NDSU has looked into expansion of dome to 25,000 with raising prices would be just fine for the mountain west or mac. Think Duke basketball. Oil money has the area flush with money & jobs making the area the fastest growing economy in USA and growth and employment. It's 50/50 ND/Minnesota students at our regional university.

To go Big 12 we'd need a new stadium yes, but we already proved we can compete with big 12 teams (in basketball too see Oklahoma win in big dance)

Yes fargo isn't a big recruit town but there's a fargo kid starting for Missouri and a senior with Big 10 & Big 12 offers as a rb. (Obviously NDSU recruiting base is Minnesota - twin cities)
