Fun thread....some of mine:

1. South Lake Tahoe. The lake...mountains....pines....sun.....snow....casinos....wonderful place.
2. Crater Lake. Just gorgeous....awesome any time of year, no matter how many times you visit.
3. Pensacola FL. The beaches on the northern gulf coast are hard to beat.
4. Coronado Island/San Diego. Great place....$$$.
5. Las Vegas. For the tourist in me.....booze, shows....lights....debauchery.....
6. Rosarita Beach/Ensenada. Touristy, yet fun..

Going to Puerto Vallarta in a couple weeks for work....hope it makes the list!

Haven't been out of the US yet, but my favorites that I've been is Vegas, Tempe, and Memphis.

Drove through Colorado numerous times and was at Pikes Peak growing up. Man what I would do to move to CO.

Already mentioned several times, but I liked New Orleans quite a bit. Spent only a few days in the area in 2010, wouldn't mind a return trip.

I'm negatively predisposed to New Orleans, as we were supposed to go there for my friend's bachelor party, but then this b!tch named Katrina showed up and ruined our plans. So, IIRC, it hit on Monday, we were supposed to show up down there on Thursday, and on Tuesday or Wednesday we found out it was not happening. Ended up having a decent time in the Ozarks, other than a ruined bottom end in the boat we took down.

And I always get a great feeling when I'm rolling up I-35 towards Ames just north of Huxley. The anticipation of getting there for a game or visiting friends is tough to beat. It's not as often as it used to be, but sure enjoy it. Guessing next time will be 115 days from today!

I know this feeling. And that first stretch on Elwood\University before you come around to the stadium... many memories.

I love that feeling too. I can't wait for the south endzone/university entrance plans to come out! Knowing JP is behind it, I'm sure it is going to look great.

Been to the four major islands in Hawaii. Would like to retire there, probably Kauai.

Panama. That whole country is beautiful. From the rain forests south of the canal, to the coasts, and up in the Mountains. A lot of wonderful visual diversity in that country.

1) Vail/Beaver Creek - good for any time of year. Skiing, hiking, mountain biking. I would move here in a heartbeat if my wife would go. If a doctor told me I had one day to live I would spend it in Vail.

2) St. John's - stopped there on a cruise and had an amazing time. Wish the whole week of the trip was there. Friendly folks, great food, beautiful beaches.

3) family farm, Troy, KS - home base in a life of living all over the country. So many great memories.

4) Allen Fieldhouse - yeah, I know, but seeing a game there really is an experience, especially now that my daughter is coming to the games and enjoying them. I am sure Hilton has that same "feels like home" feeling to ISU faithful.

It really depends on the season and my mood.

If it's fall, honestly I don't want to be anywhere but in Jack Trice Stadium. Tailgating to the sights and sounds of grills and music. Seeing everyone you know and have missed since last year wearing their cardinal and gold. The walk into the stadium and you feel the electricity in the crowd. Then sitting in the stands watching your favorite team compete.

Winter - Negril, Jamaica. We did a couples resort and it was as close to paradise on earth as you get. Wake up, eat an amazing breakfast. Enjoy beverages all day, sit on the beach.....read, play sand volleyball, meet cool people.....drink some more, get an amazing dinner. and repeat.

Spring - I'd say Vail Colorado in the back bowls. There are places you can get where you are completely away from any other skier and it is so quiet you can hear your heartbeat almost. Not to mention it is beautiful scenery.

Summer - I lived a summer in the Appalachian mountains working for a non profit home repair company.....the good memories make it one of my favorite places to be. Life there is much more laid back, and people are more family oriented. Learned a lot of life lessons there.

History/fascination - the Cologne Cathedral was breath taking both times I went there. hands down the neatest most awe inspiring building on the planet for me.

Seattle is my favorite city in the world, but, given the choice to pick only one place, it would be Montana in the summertime.

“I’m in love with Montana. For other states I have admiration, respect, recognition, even some affection. But with Montana it is love. And it’s difficult to analyze love when you’re in it.” --John Steinbeck

If I had to move out of Iowa, it'd be Denver.

Not exactly a hot tourist spot but Eisenach Germany is one of my favorite places. Ton of history there, castles, churches, etc. The reason I love it is for the time frame I was there. 3 times I went in college and the first was for 10 days just to hang and only had to sing in 2 concerts. School was out for the summer for me. Sat in the outdoor restaurants most of day eating Thuringer sausage from a street vendor and sipping on the nectar of the gods. Beautiful place in the spring. Mountains rising up all around. Very green. Clean air
