OK, I do kind of get it, but it still baffles me some of the bad press this sandwich gets. I mean it's two pieces of fried chicken with stuff inside. Who hasn't eaten a couple of pieces of fried chicken before. I guarantee you I've thrown down at an all you can eat fish fry before and definitely put the calorie count and fat content of this thing to shame. Granted, if you are grabbing one for lunch every day, bad idea. But holy crap, if you are catholic, you probably consume twice this amount of bad in Fried fish on Fridays during lent.

I've got to pick one up, just to say I've given it a try. I wish Popeye's would do their version of this. Man their chicken is head and shoulders above KFC.

Logically, what you're saying makes perfect sense. I think it's just the fact that the "sandwich" is a total, unabashed affront to all things healthy. Like it doesn't even pretend to have health value by adding bread, potatoes, etc. It's not any worse for you than other fast foods, but it seems to take pride in not being any better, either.

I think it's the idea of substituting the bread of a sandwich with two pieces of fried chicken, that's a fatty fatty fat fat thing to do.

I totally agree, but Kentucky Fried Chicken used to be very good at one point. I don't know what happened, but it seems like they abandoned the original recipe that they had.

The Double Down is better than at least these 10 items from other resteraunts, half of which you'd probably think were "better" for you than the Double Down.

http://consumerist.com/2010/04/20/10-fast-food-items-worse-for-you-than-the-kfc-double-down/

With just a quick peek at the websites for Burger King, McDonald’s and Wendy’s, I had no trouble finding 10 items with higher calorie and fat (and in almost all cases, sodium) counts than the Double Down:
BURGER KING
Triple Whopper:

1160 calories
76g fat
1170mg sodium
(!) Tendercrisp Garden Salad:
670 cals
45g fat
1740mg sodium
(!) Tendercrisp Chicken Sandwich:
800 cals
46g fat
1640mg sodium
(!!) Original Chicken Sandwich:
630 cals
39g fat
1390mg sodium
MCDONALD’S
Angus Mushroom & Swiss Burger:

770 cals
40g fat
1170mg sodium
Double Quarter Pounder With Cheese:
740 cals
42g fat
1380mg sodium
(!!) Chicken Selects 5-Piece with one packet of Buffalo Sauce:
720 cals
46g fat
2480mg sodium
WENDY’S
(!!) Chicken BLT Salad With Honey Dijon Dressing:

720 cals
51g fat
1540mg sodium
Baconator Double:

Just saw a commercial for this. Bunch of guys saying some funny stuff. One said my sister ate one and turned into a boy. Another said if a double down wanted to kiss my gf I'd let it.

Maybe this should go in the colonoscopy thread for an alternative cleanser.
