I see this as a slap in the face to KFC. It shows the public that they just arent trying hard enough to win. Add more bacon.
Double Down wrapped in bacon? Or perhaps a wrapper made of bacon?

I had the grilled version - it was not worth the price of admission.

-> the cheese made it greasy as **** without the bun to soak some of it up
-> it is smaller than you assume
-> and its more "essense of bacon" ... like there may have been bacon there once

-> the sauce was good -some type of honeymustard

Basically Hardees has nothing to worry about in the area of bad-for-u-deliciousness.

10 Fast Food Items Worse For You Than The KFC Double Down - The Consumerist

The double down is surprisingly not as bad as a lot of the other stuff out there.

I had to check out the nutritional info for the Double Down:
Serving Size (gms) 241
Calories 540
Calories from fat 290
Total fat grams 32
Saturate fat (gms) 10
Trams fat (g) 0.5
Cholesterol (mg) 145
Sodium (mg) 1380
Carbohydrates (gms) 11
Dietary Fiber (gm) 1
Sugar (g) 1
Protein (g) 53

Agree with Janny. 600 calories is around a (properly proportioned) meal. Granted the fat is high and there's only 3 food groups (protein, dairy and fat), but get this. Compare the Double Down to an Original Recipe breast, mashed potatoes, slaw, and a biscuit (KFC's "One-Peace Breast" Meal):

Serving Size (gm): 164+145+130+54 = 493
Calories: 320+120+180+180 = 800
Calories from fat: 130+35+100+70 = 335
Total fat (gm): 15+4+11+8 = 38
Saturated fat (gm): 3.5+1+1.5+6 = 12
Trans Fat (gm): 0
Cholesterol (mg): 110+0+0+0 = 110
Sodium (mg): 710+530+160+530 = 1930
Carbs (gm): 4+19+19+23 = 65
Fiber (gm): 0+1+2+1 = 4
Sugar (gm): 0+0+14+2 = 16
Protein (gm): 42+2+1+4 = 49

Add a regular soda and up that by at least 200 calories. The Double-Down is actually nutritionally comparable to one of their "KFC Famous Bowls"

I'm still going to get one just to say I did. As long as I make it a meal for a day, shouldn't be a biggie (especially compared to the chili cookoff next weekend)

Just a note. Very salty. If you like bland food, it's not for you. Also, lots of water.

Again though, comparing it to other fast food choices and saying that it's not as bad is kind of misleading. Yes, it's marginally better than some other terrible foods.
