Hunger Games-Reminds me of a 1980's Steven Segal type flick but with a halfway decent looking girl.

Lost in Translation might be the worst movie I have ever watched. It was like two hours of boring. I love love love Bill Murray. However, whe it was over the wife and I agreed that we just wasted two hours to watch nothing happening and no ending.

No Country for Old Men is awful

Whaaaa? Actually the first time I've heard that from anyone.

Original poster is right about Avatar - certainly not a great movie, its basically just Dances with Wolves on an alien planet. Forest Gump shouldn't have won over Pulp Fiction but it is a pretty great movie. Gotta love Top Gun though.

Most overrated movie: Pride and Prejudice. God awful even for a chick flick.

Pulp Fiction is way overrated, if you ask me, and you did. I just never understood the purpose of the random scenes. It's like they shot the film out of sequence, like most movies are shot, but then were too lazy to edit it into one chronologically sensible film.

Tarantino is the definition of overrated. True Romance is the only decent movie he's made. The rest is just a rehash of all the others.

And this: Hunt For Beejoli Shah, Fabulist Author Of Viral “Quentin Tarantino Sucked My Toes!â€￾ Story Begins (UPDATE)
That ain't right man. Just ain't right.

Avatar was visually cool but a stupid movie, IMO.

I hate all the Dark Knight movies. Christian Bale's voice makes me LOL.

Remember The Titans was one of the stupidest movies I ever saw. I thought the action was laughably stupid. And when I see a guy wearing a facemask that I know wasn't invented until at least the 90's in a movie that's supposed to be taking place in 1971, stuff like that really bothers me.

There are more but these are my big ones.

The Dark Knight is one of my all time favorites

Requiem for a Dream. Everyone was completely obsessed with this movie when I was in high school. I watched it, and it was one of the worst and most disturbing movies I've ever seen.

I liked a few others, but his last two offerings have been terrible. It seems like he's just trying to show how outside of the box he is by befriending and then using racial slurs for as many groups as he can, and also that he's trying to prove how versatile he is by making movies in each genre. But they're just not good anymore.

I think the sequences out of chronological order are part of why it was such an awesome movie. Jumping from one story to the other, then in the end you see how it all fits together.

I'd be surprised if this wasn't a topic at some point so apologize. I was having a discussion last night with friends about movies people love, won a ton of awards, are popular that you just don't like. Curious what some of you have in mind as overrated movies. Note if you think a movie is overrated it doesn't necessarily mean you think it's a bad movie.

I will get blasted on one of mine. So be it.

Avatar. At the time it came out, I thought it was good. But I have never seen it again, nor do I really care to. Special effects are incredible for sure. If it would have ended up winning Best Picture I think it would be looked at as one of the ten worst Best Picture winners. IMO.

The Sixth Sense. I hate this movie and guessed the twist early on.

Forrest Gump. Good movie? Sure, I like it. But do not think it's a classic or anything spectacular. It beat out Pulp Fiction AND Shawshank for Best Picture as well. That's a travesty.

Top Gun. I can't stand this movie. And take a look at Tarantino and what he says is the real meaning of Top Gun in this clip from Sleep With Me. :)

The Real Meaning Of The Movie Top Gun According To Quentin Tarantino

WHAT? I loved those movies though I'll give you top gun but that was kinda destined to be a silly, quotable movie. I thought Lost in Translation was terribly overrated.

Whaaat? P&P is amazing - what version did you watch? Did you not like the story, or was it a certain production? I hate most chick flicks, but that is a classic work of literature that translates well to the screen.

You didn't think Django Unchained or Inglorious Bastards were good? They aren't Pulp Fiction level, but I thought they were both great flicks.

I guess Tarantino is probably one of those filmmakers who you either like or you don't.

There are people out there who think Pulp Fiction is a better movie than Forrest Gump? I will admit I'm biased, as I think most Tarantino movies are overrated, but I can't fathom anyone thinking Pulp Fiction is better. Just not a big fan of it.

Star Wars
American Beauty (although I may need to watch it again, it's been awhile)
Say Anything
The Hangover (funny movie but people talk like it's an all time great, I don't see it)

Dark Knight.

To explain more, it was a good movie, and Heath Ledger had an awesome performance as the Joker. But as an overall movie Batman Begins was better.

I'm not down on the movies in general, but I, too, found his rendition of the Batman voice incredibly distracting. I was focused more on that than what he was saying.

That movie is based off of a book that I've heard (haven't found the time to read it yet) is supposed to be even more disturbing. Also, the movie is supposed to show the human downfall of addiction, so it succeeds fairly well there. Plus the soundtrack fits perfectly with the mood.

I've seen like 2 versions at least as my girlfriend loves it and I didn't like either, despite some really good acting in both of them. I guess I just couldn't stand the plot, it never felt like it went anywhere but in circles. Everytime they started to get a little closer Darcy would say "well, I've gotta go to the City" and then we'd be back where we began again.
