I assume the powder blue is there for a throwback game. I'm not a big fan of the red with their logo, but if they combine it with white jerseys maybe it'll work.

This. The black one sucks to, but the blue and white helmets actually look pretty sick, IMO. Red is just okay.

Those are pretty badass if you ask me. The Cyclones are falling waaaaaaaay behind in the uniform craze.

If the uniform craze actually mattered, ISU would have alternate uniforms. Perhaps when ISU has an $80,000,000 AD budget and money to blow like KU does, they will throw some money away on 5 sets of alternate uniforms...

Why do people think ISU is falling behind in the uniform craze?

Let me rephrase. Why is it such a bad thing that ISU is falling behind in the uniform craze? Think about it for a minute. How many schools are really changing things up all the time besides Oregon? Texas doesn't change. OU doesn't change. USC doesn't change (you guys should know that better than most :jimlad:). Ohio State and Florida have dabbled a little, but they've not gone away from their traditional uniforms for any extended period of time.

Teams that constantly change uniforms are typically teams that are searching for identity. ISU has something that works, IMO. I'm not saying I wouldn't mind seeing a white helmet, but not seeing it is hardly reason for concern, IMO. It's a lot worse to try "special" uniforms and **** it up than it is to stick with something that already works (see: all but one throwback/"Pro Combat" uniform Iowa has ever worn under Ferentz. The ones they wore in 2010 were actually cool, but the rest pretty much sucked.).

ISU alternates shouldn't even be in the debate until that Jack Trice throwback is made. Until then, everything else will just scream half *** fail.

Iowa State needs to have alternates available to keep up with other schools.

Honestly, we should have been one of the first teams on the bandwagon, it could have been something we could gain an advantage with. Now we are behind the 8 ball.

Recruits absolutely love alternates and different helmets. It doesn't even have to be crazy, just different options.

Hate to break it to you guys... if we had white helmets, we'd still have the worst uniforms in the conference. We need new (ORIGINAL) uniforms. Not just a lame copy of USC or the Kansas City Chiefs.

Also, I can't wait to see how badly Adidas botches the 5 uniforms that go with those helmets. Hope they go with a giant K on the front of them like Wisconsin & Nebraskas ugly *** jerseys last year.

Yeah surprising your team with special jerseys that aren't a team color is probably not the best idea.

Couldn't disagree more. Recruits. Love. Alternates.

And nobody could use more help in recruiting than ISU. In a landscape where almost every permanent factor goes against ISU, you have to adapt in the parts of recruiting that you can control.

Because those schools don't have to. They wear boring uniforms from the 60s and they are praised for being classic because they are the best schools in the nation. They have almost every advantage you could get in recruiting. They don't need any more, and they are still doing it at a decent clip.

Is there any hint of evidence that ISU has ever lost a desired recruit because ISU didn't have alternate uniforms or helmets?

Maybe we've stumbled across the mysterious reason why Bevins left for NWMSU...

Because that is such an easy thing to identify and pinpoint...

No recruit is going to tell someone that they picked a school because of the uniforms, but it is certainly a way to grab their attention or make them view ISU in a better light. You are absolutely insane or incredibly naive if you think kids don't care. Oregon built an entire program out if it.

I'm not saying go crazy and have mirror helmets or have blue jerseys or anything, but dear god another color helmet and maybe a little more of a modern alternate just to have it at the very least.

Seriously, all I want is a damn white helmet.

I'd like to see ISU wear white helmets on the road in a white-white-white (or white-white-red) combo.

Does it matter very much? Not really. But it does add on to the "feel" of Iowa State being a little bit behind our peers in the game. Alternate uniforms, entrance music, bowled-in stadiums... Doesn't matter that much except when it comes to that "feel."

We should do some throwbacks of some of our all time epic seasons. I am thinking conference titles, national titles, BCS level bowl wins, etc.
