If he sits out this year and goes nowhere, he'd be a junior when be played again at any other school not named Iowa State and a senior if inside the Big 12.

The real loser in this is Creston. The town is getting raked across the mud

I thought nothing bad happens in small towns. Only bad things happen in the 'big cities' like Des Moines

Anybody that knows Creston knows that the town deserves the bad rep it gets. It has a pretty bad drug problem.

The town is a crap hole but not sure how the fact that a kid from that town is now no longer with the team makes it any worse.

This is far from the worst thing that has ever happened to Creston.

I don't know. Losing a powerful defensive lineman is pretty bad for towns of Creston size. This might hurt recruiting in that town.Look who is left.

I don't think it's a foregone conclusion, but I will not be at all surprised or shocked if he ends up a Hok in a couple of years.

Well, Collin's dad did say that ISU was just too big for Collin, so it would make sense that he enrolls at a smaller institution like the Univeristy of Iowa - at least it will be a smaller institution starting this fall.

But the real winner is mixed metaphors.

I'd be surprised if he hasn't already heard from Iowa Western and most of the other Juco programs in the Midwest. If he gets a 2 year degree in the next year, he can be a 3 to play 3 guy at any school of his choice with no restrictions.

I talked to someone on the Creston staff this afternoon. He is giving up football period. He was coming home every weekend and he wasn't wanting to come back to Ames. Too bad. Apparently his heart just isn't into football or school right now.

Good luck to him living the dream, going to gravel road parties and chasing high school chicks. Nothing like ending your football career and quitting college because you can't handle being away from the small town you grew up in.

Hey, that's some people's dream (small town living). While you or I may scratch our heads about "missed opportunities" because we dream of playing at Jack Trice, that just may not be him and it may not mean he'll be not amount to good things. I've seen MANY a college student waste their potential when their school was paid for (academics) or they rack up loans and don't graduate....they SHOULD have got out before they messed more things up.

Maybe... but most people I've known who gave up on school because they were homesick and wanted to be home every weekend regretted it. And most that stuck with it got over missing their hometown and were glad they did. But good luck to him, I'm sure there are plenty of great opportunities for a kid with a HS education who wants to stay in Creston.

I totally understand not having the heart/desire to play big time college football. You can't be half in.

I am fine if he doesn't have the heart to play anymore. That is just the breaks, but I think blocking conference teams and Iowa should be a given.

This isn't even in the top ten of bad things for Creston. Now here is one of them:
Former Creston police officers sentenced to 25 years for sexual assault

And to the point of why I think some people might be freaking out, the guy was playing probably half assed since the spring started and he still was listed as a starter. Gotta have a little bit of talent to do something like that.
