Sucks to lose a kid with his potential, but at the same time do we want someone just going through the motions?

if he were to "stick it out" through the season, it would most likely not be with an All In attitude. Sucks, but better for both parties at this point. Hope he figures out what makes him happy.

I'm on board with this sentiment. It sucks for the team to lose a potential fall starter -- but at this point it would suck for the team far more to have someone the team was counting on to just be "going through the motions" between now and game #1 in 2013.

I wish the kid the best and hope there is someone just as capable to step into that spot and answer the bell. It will be an opportunity for someone, and they have all summer and fall now to prepare -- so that is good. Better this happens now than in fall practice.

Classic bash on clonedude post.

Here we go again. Every time clonedude posts something, some clown feels like they have to bash him and derail the thread instead of taking the time to post something intelligent and constructive to the conversation.

Congrats to you. I really hope you're about 10 years old? Because that's what you sound like. You might as well get over your hatred of me, it's disturbing. Ignore me if you don't like me. But don't act like a whiny little kid. Geeez.

Sorry I posted my feelings about this. I just have a gut feeling he'll go to Iowa. What's the big deal. It's not like that hasn't happened to us before. It's not very far fetched. Ever heard of Barkley Hill? Or Adam Haluska?

Not to step into the two of you and your lovers quarrel but Bevins leaving ISU after a RS year and when his name is on top of the depth chart to sit out a year and transfer to the Hawks is about the least likely thing to happen in my mind. Go ahead and go all Dooms Day Prepper on us if you want but I just dont see that happening.

If anything he is really just burnt out OR perhaps he is tied up with the wrong crowd (not hard to do in Creston).

Well, if he doesn't want to be here, then bye-bye. I wish him the best of luck. Now that's over, it's time to focus on who wants to be here, don the Cardinal and Gold and move on. Because those are the best people I know (Iowa Staters). Also, I know the DL has been quoted as "thin" on this site, but this could be just what that unit needed. I believe that when the other guys heard this news they didn't panic, rather, they see an opportunity. It's just going to take a lot of dedication and work this summer to get there.

The guys vying for that spot as well as the whole unit will become stronger because of this news. There will be a real push this summer to be in the best football-shape possible out of this unit. I hope they all become even more focused this summer and work on their game. There is a lot of work to be done, but our coaches will have the D-Line ready.

Exactly, if this was Irving or Scott then it's total freak out mode.

I'm not freaking out that Bevins is leaving. Who knows how good he was going to be.

But I wouldn't freak out if Irving was leaving either. He hasn't been a game changer by any means.

I would be freaking out if George was leaving though. We MUST have him at LB or we're in really deep trouble.

Disagree. Scott has 1 year remaining and Irving 2 IIRC. Bevins was a potential 4 year starter. The long term impact really hurts especially at a notoriously weak position at ISU.

I would love to say "next guy in" but being already a worry spot on the team, we don't really have the "next guy". I'd have to look at the depth chart, besides moving Irving/Scott, but I would think a true freshman may have to step up. It's a opportunity for someone to plug the holes that's for sure.

In this article, he says he might still be interested in playing football still (crestonnews.com | Bevins leaving Iowa State in Creston, Iowa) but sounds like he could be lacking passion.

“Right now, I am unsure about what I am going to do next. I would like to play
football, but if I don’t, I’m not going to be upset.â€￾

Ok, so let the speculation begin. He isn't burnt out of playing football and he still wants to play football it sounds like.

It isn't grades, and it isn't about playing time either, which isn't a surprise since he was penciled in as a starter.

So what happened here? Does he not get along with his teammates or coaches or what?

Does anyone still think I'm crazy to think he might end up at Iowa? UNI might be more likely since he could play right away there though. And I wouldn't be surprised if we block him from going to Iowa, although doing things like that can hurt you in recruiting. We shall see. This story is strange.

OK, that just makes the whole thing seem fishier. Seems disgruntled with Iowa State. Now I do think he will be a Hok, and I didn't before.

If he went to Iowa, he'd lose a year of eligibility though, right? He's already burned his RS.

Don't you have to sit out two years instead of one if you want to go to Iowa or another Big12 school?

The real loser in this is Creston. The town is getting raked across the mud

I thought nothing bad happens in small towns. Only bad things happen in the 'big cities' like Des Moines
