Re: Rashad Vaughn

So if RV decides to go to Brewster, you gotta think that helps our chances immensely with the recruiting relationships we have there, right? This could be one of those times that a prep school decision really influences a prospects' college choice.

Brewster has kids at alot of D1 schools, Iowa State would have no advantage. Plus he would have teammates already committed to another school.

getting him out of Minnesota is bad for the locals, including Iowa State.

Ejim comes to mind...'10 grad of Brewster, currently on our team...Kansas is the only other team mentioned that has recent Brewster players on their squad (Tharpe).

Just sayin...better than most.

It could be good considering ISU staff's solid relationship there... or it might suggest that RV isn't intent on staying near home to play ball. Currently location is one of Ames and the U of M's selling points. I read a while back some speculation that he would like to play near home. That may have changed since the blue bloods started calling though.

Not better than most. We have no better connection to Brewster than dozens of schools. In fact, we have had little luck in getting Brewster's better players. Vaughn does not know Ejim or Tharpe. Having a former Brewster player on the current roster has no impact. What may have an impact are where Vaughn's teammates at Brewster are going, which is not ISU.

Goldfinger is right, RV staying in the Twin Cities is better for ISU. If he is goes to Brewster, there is no chance he stays local for college and goes to ISU or UM.

I heard the same thing but in the CBS article he says being away from home for his last year of HS is no big deal.

Yup! Agree 100%. Easy comparison/example: Kyle Washington - Yahoo! Sports. Kyle Washington went to Brewster Academy and our "connection" didn't help. He was recruited hard by ISU but is going to North Carolina State next year.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

There is some thought that we backed off Washington because of impermissible contact that came out in the report.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Vaughn could end up out East/West for HS, get homesick, and hate it for all we know. It's probably a great experience for him to get out of Minnesota for a year to try it out and see if he likes being that far away from home. If he doesn't like it, he can always play closer to home in college.

Sometimes you gotta dump your special lady, move to Las Vegas for a year, and experiment with drugs & sex to find out how much she really means to you. (Note: Not RV specific, just mostly advice for any youngsters reading this)

complete B.S. , the calls in question were from 2008 to 2011 and in basketball case, involved Lefty Moore (Peter Jok) and Daniyal Robinson (Gmac's staff)

Not gonna believe that one. We had a scheduled an official visit with him but he never made it past his first one.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Yep, very exemplary of why Vaughn going to Brewster is not good for ISU's chances.

While I agree that Vaughn staying in the TCs is likely better for us than him at Brewster, and that many schools have the same or better connections to Brewster as we do...

if he's definitely going prep, Brewster is likely better for us than say Huntington, or Findlay.
