How you can watch Niang's postgame interview and doubt this team for next year is beyond me.

Did you hear the 6 seniors who took them there part? That's how. There is a metric **** ton of production to replace. I'm not saying it won't be done but there is certainly some reason for doubt. Lucious, Clyburn and McGee sing handedly gave us a shot today.

I really have no idea until I see Morris and Thomas play a NCAA game. Of course, when they both score 20+ PPG in Cap City, I'll probably think I have an idea (but be wrong).

That's not far off the situation that we found ourselves in this year. We can mitigate some of the loss in fire power by playing better D.

A lot will depend on how good some of the newcomers are, plus who surprises that's currently on the team.

Plus, I wouldn't be shocked if Fred has one more rabbit up his sleeve on the recruiting front.

I agree we lose a lot, and it will be hard to replace both the play and maturity of those guys, but just look at Niang and his maturity beyond his years. He feeds off of things like this, and he has his whole life. He will come back motivated, and as the leader of this team. There is no room for doubt, onward and upward.

With only 2 returning starters, I am glad they are Georges and Melvin. We will be fine next year, and in '14 and beyond, I think we are in for some great years

Step backward? That's nuts.

The new JUCO guys bang down low and get boards.

Georges and Melvin carve up slow guys on the offensive end.

We roll out yet another dazzling array of three point gunners.

Step backward, my ***.

I am still nauseous from losing to OSU. My feeling is Fred is trying to transition from transfers, to building the program from freshman. I don't really think he wants to take a step back but he may not have been able to get the kinds of transfers that he wanted. The JC players are question marks. The truth is though, there is not a coach in America that can get a team to play unselfish team ball any better than Fred. What is amazing about Fred, he does it kindly at least as far as I can tell. Those people saying Fred ought to do this, Fred maybe needs to drop a scholarship here, or needs to do something else there, don't understand people or basketball. You can't look in from outside a program and say a coach needs to do this and that, and if he did it this way it would be better.

Fred has had this program that was in ruins, and in 3 years put us in the position to be in the final four. Do you think major colleges aren't beating down ISU doors right now to get Fred? Still, we have fans that know more than he does.

My thoughts on next year are that we will be dancing again. Sure we lose a lot but we also bring in some talented guards. Melvin will be Melvin, Niang has will get stronger and better over the summer. This team will be good again. Don't know why anyone doubts Fred at this point.

There are 130 Big 12 Scholarship players. If you ranked them all, Bubu would be at the very least somewhere in the 70-80 range, at least in my book.

Are there 50+ players on scholarship in the Big 12 that are not worthy of a scholarship? That's a ridiculous statement.
dafuq are you talking about? I have no ill-will towards Bubu. He plays hard and I like that. But saying he's better than 50-60 guys on scholarship in the Big 12 is just silly.

I'm SO excited for next year. The way Ejim and Niang played these last few weeks give me a lot of hope about their ability to be the core of next year's team. Add in two stud freshmen and a JUCO transfer and it could make for a very exciting team.

Talent improvement still occuring. Next year will be another good year. Look at our incoming guys...they'll be big players just like Niang was this year!

And while Georges was heartbroken after this game he was also insistent that "We will be back next year". Yes, we lose a lot of experience but we also gain a lot of young talent and while I am very proud of the 2012/13 Cyclones I am also anxious to cheer the 2013/14 version.

Didn't we lose a ****-ton of "irreplaceable" talent last year, making this year a "rebuilding" year?

I'm beginning to like Fred Hoiberg's "rebuilding" years.

I can't rep you, need to give more out, but if I could I would rep you a hundred times, we have some of the stupidest on this board. Fred is ahead of the curve as far as coaching is concerned, show me another team in this tournament that plays like us, its an anomaly. Show me another coach who has taken a program so far ran into the ground by the previous regime, brings in a bunch of "THUGS" that he molds into a very good TEAM, all the while having not one of these THUGS break the law, flunk out of school, rob a Burger King and then have them make noise in the NCAA tourney. If you can do that then show me a coach who has done it twice like Fred has. But yet some of you people aren't happy and think you know more than he does. Oh btw this is his 3rd year of coaching ever. I wish some people would realize how good we currently have it. These kids had a good shot at a FINAL 4 if that shot doesn't go down today. If you think this will be Fred's last look at a FINAL 4 in his tenure you are crazy. As far as I am concerened Fred Hoiberg is ABOVE REPROACH by any of you for what he has done for this program as a ball boy, player, and now potentially the best coach we have ever had. And another thing he likely not have want to hop on the first better train out of Ames.

How will Fred replace the production lost from White, Allen, and Scotty. Without RW carrying this team, there would be no tourney...

Oops. Wrong year.
