I am going to allow myself to imagine a day when FSU, Clemson, Louisville, and Maryland join the conference. In addition to $3-4 million per team for CCG, we also get nearly $30 million from our tier 1 & 2 deals, plus another $3-4 million for cyclones.tv network.

And when JP cashes that first $35-40 million annual payout check, I will laugh in the face of every Hawk fan I see. I will specifically drive over to Jon Miller's house and knock on his door, just to laugh in his face.

- An automatic escalator clause of $2 million per team added in expansion. With all the monies added up we're told 30 million is the number. This number includes the Big 12 championship game, third tier rights etc. This opens the door for it to be attractive for other teams to leave their conference and join the Big 12.

- We were told going to 14 teams was the goal for 2013.

I find these 2 things very interesting. Especially if the 2 million automatic bump is true. That could be why Louisville keeps popping up for expansion. 3 ACC teams and Louisville would probably be the most likely to happen.

Would be very interested to see if that happens and who the 3rd ACC team would be. Maryland and Miami seem like the most likely. Miami because I think bringing them would help get FSU. Maryland because they have no money at all and I think would be very interested.

4 teams at 2 million a piece could put the Big 12 at 28 million per school a year and that still doesn't include Tier 3.

I would want Virginia Tech before Maryland or Miami.

VT closer and better in football.

Miami is duplication of TV coverage with FSU.

I like adding Miami because it gives the Big 12 control of Texas and more BCS Florida schools than any other conference. ACC would have zero and the SEC would have one. So the Big 12 would have possession of 2 of the 3 biggest football recruit states and the 2 biggest football loving states population wise.

I agree with your points about VT. I guess Maryland is my preference because they are a big school, a solid fan base, good (not necessarily great) recruiting ground in football and basketball, good academics, and a well-rounded athletic department (men's and women's hoops, specifically). I know those arent necessarily the priorities of the conference, but those would be my reasons.

Plus, we would hang with Maryland on the FB field. V-Tech might be another story...

I always was under the impression that VA tech and Virginia were a package deal now that they are in the same conference again. I wouldn't mind adding both VA schools, FSU and either Clemson or Louisville to get to 14. I'm just glad this isn't like the past few years when ISU didn't have a guaranteed spot. Much nicer being on the other side of things.

If the Big 12 is in the position to be choosy on the teams we add (and I have no idea if that is the case or not), I'd like to see only one team per state get added. The more states the Big 12 has teams in the more exposure Iowa State gets

I think they were a package deal because Virginia legislature saw the writing on the wall with the Big East and shoehorned them in. The ACC isn't going anywhere, and even if it does, they could probably get into the Big 10.

You know, a majority of them will deserve it.

They were GIDDY with the prospect of ISU being left without a good conference.

Miami is duplication of TV coverage with FSU.

With a large state (population wise and length) like florida, 2 schools from there wouldnt be terrible, especially considering theyre about the same distance away as from Ames to the Kansas-Oklahoma border.

Also consider that one hurdle for FSU may be scheduling, if they want to keep Florida and Miami on the schedule.. with a 9 game big 12 schedule having both of those in nonconference would severely limit their scheduling.

I don't know about Miami. They might honestly be down for good. They play an hour from campus in a crappy NFL stadium in front of 30,000 people. They don't have a big fanbase, they have awful facilities, and they're a small private school.

They were great in the 80's and 90's and are now a good decade removed from the glory days, and no one seems to care.

Yeah, that is definitely the big question mark around them.

I would love to see the 8 Big East basketball school jump ship, keep the Big East name, Take on VCU and perhaps UMass or Xavier from the A-10. That would put them with 10 teams and a double round robin. Would be a crazy awesome conference.

I like it. I hope Butler would get a ticket to such a conference, too. And maybe Dook when the ACC folds

I think the BE non-FB schools will definitely jump ship in the next few months as follows:

ND, Nova, Georgetown, SHU, SJU, Providence, Marquette, DePaul
ADD: Xavier, Dayton

If ND joins another conference, then SLU is in. That would be 10 private schools in will populated Metro areas. ESPN would jump all over that and pay them well.
