I have been critical of TH on this board and elsewhere. But I saw considerable improvement in the second half of the season and I think continuity is underrated at this level. All in all, I think his departure is a setback for ISU unless the next guy we get is running a similar system. We just don't have the athletes to make big schematic changes and not see some slippage.
Yeah, agreed & its obvious PR gets it. We are accumulating more talent, but still we lag behind most teams in talent, so, we need to stick to the same scheme. Execution based on repetition can beat better talent.

The More I read about Tony Franklin, the more nervous i get. It seems like his Offense can be very good but that it is going to take awhile to master. I really would hate for us to have to struggle offensively next season to learn a system with all the talent we have. CPR will no best though so we will wait and see which direction he goes.

1. Jared Barnett ran Franklin's system in HS.
2. It's similar to our current offense.

I would agree if we were running the power I and recruiting players for that type of system, but we're not. I think he would be a fairly seemless transition.

Your 'email' in the social group said something to the effect of 'as we discussed, we are nudging TH out'.

Yet the night this all came out, you were on CF asking if he was pushed out or if he was hired away its in your post history). If you had 'previously discussed' this, why would you have been asking all of CF? You shouldve known from the get go.
Buy me one of those $30.00 hamburgers at the Bowl game and I'll explain it to you. hint: maybe I was fishing???? :jimlad:

You seem to keep repeating the $30 hamburger thing despite having it explained to you multiple times that it was part of an analogy.

See how frustrating it is when someone twists your words to meet their agenda. ala 85.

Me and 85 have had plenty of disagreements. But you dont exactly have a clean track record either.

In terms of millions a year how much do you make Rebecacy?

Nothing. He retired in march. Yet he still says he works with the cardinals. He lies worse than Kirk Ferentz does in regards to where his kids live

The more I look into him the more I'm liking this Tony Franklin character. Minus the Auburn blemish he improved the offensive rankings from the preceding year the first year he took over as OC at each stop. The following year after he left the team took a dip offensively.

A few concerns though he does seem a bit nomadic. Longest he stayed as OC for the same school is 2 years.

Also, although his Offensive rankings are good his Passing Efficiency seems to lag several rankings behind. Not sure if this just a characteristic of his offense or a warning sign.

For example:
Troy 07
Total O: 16
Passing eff: 78

MTSU 09
Total O: 30
Passing Eff: 77

LTU 10
Total O: 52
Passing Eff: 89

LTU 11
Total O: 49
Passing Eff: 69

He seems to run a balanced offense (that is equal run and pass) and teaches his system to several high school players and coaches at his seminars so he is what Rhoads would refer to as a "teacher" and can develop players. Also his seminars give him a recruiting angle since a lot of HS coaches know about him.

Should ignor the Barney Fife but I did retire last March due to an illness. However, I still consult on 'strategic planning' and do have some neat/fun clients. Currently spending a lot of time in Shenandoah IA working for Lloyd Inc. (see the name on the VET MED addition).........I think this is Chris's old stomping grounds. I do try to put out solid info but the social club boys like to think they are the only ones with good info. See 85's obsession with trying to discredit me and others. With him its a power thing. He can call me out and say anything and I have to toe the line or get banned. I suggest you decide for yourself. I don't lie but I am wrong at times. Things change, like the last minute incredible Angel's offer to Albert. I hope we have Franklin tied up as he can come in and the offense doesn't change. Well hopefully the play calling and execution improve.

Like most here, I trust CPR to select the best OC for this team. I do, however, like a lot of Tony Franklin's version of the spread offense. Typically runs a "two back" set. Run attempts are generally greater than pass attempts. Really utilizes the running backs in his offense (particularly with involvement in the passing game). He seems to me to be really good at getting the player with the ball "into the space" created by a spread-out offense.

Mods - any chance we can give the feuding teenage girls their own thread? I'm afraid I MAY be the ONLY one left on this one who actually gives a poo about our next OC since 48 of the 50 pages of posts are 2 children telling us who has the smarter daddy...
